⭐ Our Fraud Team

Our Fraud collective mission is simple: earn and keep our customers’ trust, support Monzo’s safe growth, and help build a safer financial society. Overnight Team Managers are key to making that happen.

You’ll lead a team of around 12 Fraud Investigators, helping them grow, perform at their best, and stay connected to Monzo’s bigger purpose. The work is fast-paced and impactful — balancing regulated and unregulated tasks while fostering a kind, high-performing culture where everyone feels valued and supported.

What You’ll Be Doing..

As a Team Manager, you’ll guide your team through their day-to-day work, analysing performance and wellbeing trends, offering feedback, and coaching them to success. You’ll take a proactive approach to keeping engagement high — celebrating wins, creating space for open conversations, and helping your team link their work to Monzo’s mission.

You’ll also handle more formal aspects of people management like performance and absence processes, always with empathy and transparency. Alongside this, you’ll feed insights back into the wider Fraud domain, support hiring, and help keep service levels on track. Above all, you’ll make sure your team feels motivated, equipped, and supported every step of the way.

🔑 You’ll play a key role by...

  • Analysing, understanding and regularly reporting on performance and absence data.
  • Taking proactive action to manage and support their team’s performance; including delivering timely feedback, providing learning and coaching support and implementing formal performance management processes where necessary.
  • Taking proactive action to manage and support their team’s wellbeing and absence levels; including facilitating robust return to work and wellbeing conversations, working with the People team and senior leaders to make adjustments to expectations where necessary, and implementing formal absence management processes where appropriate.
  • Actively working to keep their team engaged with both the work in front of them, and the wider business mission and goals by helping them connect their contributions to the wider business’ success.
  • Supporting their team in developing themselves through their career journeys through effective personal development plans.
  • Accurately and meticulously maintaining necessary documentation.
  • Supporting with hiring across the domain.

Your day-to-day:

  • Managing the personal & professional development of approximately 12 Investigators.
  • Fostering an empathetic, high-performance culture in the team.
  • Providing technical coaching, feedback, and advice relating to their tasks.
  • Reporting team performance as part of a weekly check in with operations managers.
  • Supporting the monitoring and maintenance of service level adherence by feeding back to Workforce Management when needed.
  • Communicating and embedding change within the team.
  • Contributing to a strong control environment by minimising breaches and risk events.
  • Reviewing complaints and quality assurance failures attributed to the team and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Completing quality checks for the team and providing feedback based on these checks.
  • Chairing employee relations cases and making decisions consistent with Monzo’s values.

🤩 We’d love to hear from you if…

  • You have strong leadership and people management experience.
  • You’ve got a values driven approach in line with Monzo’s core values.
  • You have strong subject matter expertise in Fraud at a level able to resolve complex and technical escalations.
  • You have the ability to coach and develop teams and individuals.
  • You have experience in identifying performance and wellbeing trends and delivering coaching and support as required.
  • You have the ability to provide specific actionable feedback to a wide range of audiences and levels.
  • You work well independently & work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • You can work to deadlines and prioritise time sensitive workloads.

👤 Identity survey

Our goal at Monzo is to make money work for everyone. To do that, working at Monzo must work for everyone. We want to create an equitable, engaged and innovative workplace which gives people from all backgrounds the support they need to thrive and grow.

Making Monzo work for everyone starts right at the beginning of every Monzonaut's journey: when they apply to work here. This demographic survey will help us better understand the people who apply to work at Monzo. It'll help us see how different groups progress through our hiring process, and where we need to make improvements to be more inclusive. If you choose to fill it out, all of the information you give us is:

  • Voluntary. And we've included a "prefer not to say" option for every question. It'd be helpful if you still fill out the survey even if you choose "prefer not to say" for every question, as it's useful for us to understand & record this. We won't know if you choose to fill this survey in or not.
  • Anonymous to Monzo. We can't tie your responses to you and they won't make a difference to the outcome of your application. We'll only use grouped responses for equal opportunities monitoring in our hiring process.

For more information on how we'll use this data, please read our candidate privacy notice.

By filling out this survey, you agree that we can use your responses for the purposes we've mentioned above. You are not letting us know if we need to make any adjustments to the hiring process because of disability or neurodiversity - to do this please email us.
