Software Engineer, Entry-Level
About the role
Software Engineers at Muon build the systems that make it possible to design, test, launch, and operate constellations of satellites for a wide variety of missions. Our engineers contribute to embedded flight software, physics simulations, customer-facing APIs and services, user interfaces, scheduling algorithms, data pipelines, computer vision, signal processing, and large-scale cloud systems.
As an Entry-Level Software Engineer, you’ll bring strong technical foundations and a passion for learning, while developing into an expert in your chosen domain. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers, gaining exposure to challenging problems and cutting-edge technologies in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and testing of new software capabilities for ground or space systems
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Collaborate with teammates to propose and iterate on software designs
- Conduct analysis to support both development and validation of systems
- Learn new technologies quickly and apply them effectively
- Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Deliver work reliably and on schedule
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Computational Mathematics, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (C++, Python, TypeScript, or similar)
- Coursework, internships, or projects demonstrating knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and statistics
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn quickly
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience from internships, research, or project teams (e.g., programming clubs, robotics, rocketry, or open-source contributions)
- Familiarity with embedded software, networking protocols, or hardware/software testing
- Exposure to cloud environments, distributed systems, or data pipelines
- Understanding of physics, orbital mechanics, or autonomous systems
- Interest in mathematical optimization, machine learning, or advanced algorithms
Salary
- The salary range for this role is $99,000 - $122,000 and will depend on a candidate's skills, geographic location, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.
