Sr. Data Modeler

Addison, TX; Montpelier, VT

Come join one of America’s fastest-growing insurance companies. Since 1848, National Life Group has aimed to keep our promises, providing families with stability in good times and in bad. Throughout that history, we have provided peace of mind to those families as they plan their futures.

Our mission extends beyond the insurance and annuities policies that we offer. We strive to make the world a better place through our grants from our charitable foundation, paid volunteer time for our employees, environmentally sustainable and healthy workplaces, and events that promote the work of nonprofits in our own backyard.

We foster a collaborative environment with opportunities for growth and encourage our associates to live our values: Do good. Be good. Make good.

Please note that we do not offer visa sponsorship for this position.

We are seeking highly skilled individuals to join our Enterprise Data Architecture practice. In this role, you will design high-quality domain (canonical) data models, consumption-layer dimensional models, and drive data architecture and governance standards across our enterprise data platform. You will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define, document, and govern how data flows across the organization – supporting analytics, reporting, operational use cases, and advanced data science initiatives.

This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy hands-on solution designing, driving best practices, and shaping the long-term data architectural foundation for a modern and fast-growing life insurance and annuities organization. This role will be key to create models for several layers of our enterprise data platform, define end to end data lineage, participate in data engineering design reviews, collaborate with all stakeholders, and take complete ownership in establishing a highly performant data platform for the organization.

This position currently offers an onsite work schedule, with the expectation that you are in the office four (4) days per week during onsite core days. Our current onsite core days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  The work schedule type and core days are subject to change with advance notification and manager discretion.

  • Collaborate with Data Engineers, Analytics, and Data Science teams to implement models and optimize performance.
  • Analyze source data quality, recommend cleansing solutions, and support data quality frameworks.
  • Stay current with industry standards and emerging practices (ACORD, DAMA-DMBOK, Data Vault, Kimball, Data Mesh).
  • Contribute to agile delivery and produce architecture deliverables within sprint timelines

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM preferred; advanced degree is a plus.
  • 5–10+ years in data architecture, data modeling, or enterprise analytics.
  • Strong experience with canonical/domain modeling, dimensional modeling, and semantic modeling.
  • Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with Azure Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog).
  • Experience with data modeling tools (Erwin, ER/Studio) and metadata management platforms (Purview, Collibra, Alation).
  • Knowledge of data governance, master/reference data concepts, and privacy/security controls.

Form CC-305

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
