Finance Manager

El Segundo, California, United States

Who we are

Neros is transforming a defense industry mired in costly, behemoth machinery—to circumvent a looming vulnerability gap, to give dismounted soldiers a fighting chance against tanks, and ultimately, to get as many humans off the battlefield as possible.

While consumer technology is evolving by bounds on the smaller-cheaper-better path, U.S. defense technology wallows in the large, centralized, and wildly expensive paradigm. Our air, land, and sea machinery budget is staggering; yet these large assets can still be vulnerable to very small weapons. When swarm technology comes into its own, the asymmetry will escalate. Nowhere is the pattern more glaring than in small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS)—drones.

Who you are

As a Finance Manager, you will be the founding member of Neros' Finance team. The Finance Manager provides analytical support for leadership of key functional areas within Neros. This position involves creating, from scratch, the building blocks of all finance structures necessary across all Neros departments to keep up with our explosive growth. This is a dynamic and exciting role at a rapidly growing startup and will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the finance lead and strategic business partner for all Neros departments, thoroughly understanding business needs in order to recommend and drive forward key initiatives.
  • Offer financial support and performance analysis to a multitude of internal stakeholders. This includes collaborating with everyone from Engineers to Execs, to provide clarity on operational performance, formulating, tracking, and managing budgets and associated KPIs to drive desirable financial outcomes.
  • Drive the forecasting process of all Neros product systems through the establishment of timelines and targets, collection of investment details, creation of operating budgets, and development of key review materials.
  • Own the build of bottoms up, data driven models to understand segmentation, pricing optimization, and financial impact analysis.
  • Identify business opportunities, formulate hypotheses, and conduct in-depth analyses which illuminate opportunities to drive further success.
  • Own performance dashboards, alerting, and investigation into KPI health. Assess the impact of new product features on KPIs while developing strategies which drive demonstrable impact against those same metrics.
  • Own financial trade-off discussions between Executive stakeholders for all NPI products/operations.
  • Own the development and maintenance of Excel models for all periodic financial reporting, forecasting, and planning.
  • Lead customer program reporting as required, including but not limited to monthly invoicing, monthly financial status reporting, and input into annual incurred cost proposal process.
  • Architect and manage accounts payable and receivable systems.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS with 5-10 years of prior experience in FP&A, preferably in a Manufacturing, Aerospace and Defense, or Tech environment
  • Previous experience owning the build/start of financial structures across Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Development and Operations from scratch
  • Intellectually curious - you seek to understand the why behind the numbers.
  • Highly technical - rapidly dissect complex quantitative problems through SQL and other tools
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. You drive consensus through grounded arguments, interpersonal skills, and negotiation skills.
