EHS & Compliance Manager
Who we are
Neros is a defense technology company rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale. Our team culture is fast, hands-on, and obsessed with closing the gap between design and deployment.
As drones transform the character of warfare, Neros is delivering the systems the West needs to compete on the modern battlefield and deter the adversaries of democracy. We’re hiring engineers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take on extreme ownership, and get capability into the hands of warfighters in months, not years.
What you will be doing
Neros is looking for a mission-focused EHS & Compliance Manager to own the programs that keep our people safe and our facility compliant as we scale. This role designs, documents, and maintains our environmental health and safety programs, manages compliance with local fire, police, and building authorities, partners with Legal on ITAR and export-controlled facility requirements, and owns our internal policy and SOP library. You'll manage all EHS, partner directly with the facilities leadership, and serve as the face of Neros to regulators and local authorities. This is a build-and-run role for someone who can write the policy, train the team, and walk the floor during an incident — all in the same week.
Responsibilities
- Full ownership of EHS programs across labs, manufacturing, and office spaces
- Building and fire code compliance, permits, and local authority relationships
- Internal policy and SOP library — authoring, maintaining, and training
- Lithium-ion battery safety programs and incident response leadership
- Management and development of the EHS Techs
- Audit and inspection readiness and response
- Executive-level compliance reporting
You should have the following
- 5–7 years of EHS and/or facility compliance experience, with at least 2 years in a program ownership role
- Deep working knowledge of OSHA 1910, Cal/OSHA, EPA, DOT hazardous materials, NFPA, FAA, FCC, and local building/fire code
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining EHS programs in manufacturing, lab, or similarly hazardous environments
- Strong technical knowledge of lithium-ion battery hazards, controls, and emergency response
- Proven experience writing, maintaining, and training teams on policies and SOPs
- Experience managing relationships with regulators, local fire departments, and external auditors
- Strong written communication — able to produce clean SOPs and executive-ready reporting
- Experience working at a startup or other fast-paced environment where speed and adaptability are required
- Availability to respond to incidents outside of normal hours
- Willingness to roll up sleeves and work the floor when needed
Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering,
- ITAR and controlled-space facility compliance in partnership with Legal
- Experience working in defense or aerospace
