
Digital Content Editor (Casual Worker)

Newsweek is looking for a freelance Digital Content Editor to join our UK team on a casual worker agreement. The Digital Content Editor assigns, creates, edits and optimizes digital copy quickly and cleanly in a fast-paced environment. They are responsible for the timely publishing of high quality content that is accurate, fair, and conforms to accepted standards of journalism. They will use new tools and technology to create and edit content as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with editors and reporters in the creation of content.
- Assign stories as required.
- Edit stories as required.
- Write stories as required.
- Provide feedback and guidance to reporters to improve standards.
- Work with the SEO, Multimedia teams and others to optimize content.
- Meet tight deadlines.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as necessary to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications:
- Significant relevant experience in an editing role.
- Strong news judgment across a range of subjects.
- Proven record of editing quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent writing and copy editing skills.
- Demonstrable knowledge of digital tools or applications including content management systems and editing assistance software.
- Demonstrable knowledge of common IT tools such as the Microsoft suite.
