Part-Time Photo Editor

NFL Media is seeking a part-time Photo Editor to join our team. The NFL Photo department provides exclusive imagery in real-time for use across the League, including our editorial, social, and marketing departments, Network, players, and clubs. The ideal candidate has strong editorial judgment, a passion for football and visual storytelling, and a drive to find the most engaging images for our audience. The position will primarily focus on curating image assets for daily news coverage, creating story-driven photo content, and live editing for game images. Other responsibilities may include assistance producing photo shoots and providing event editing support.

 

Essential Functions

  • Source and edit image assets for news stories and digital content, including articles, videos, feature art, and photo essays. Maintain brand quality and accuracy under short deadlines.
  • Build composite images using creative templates for feature art. Source and cut out images, place in stylized templates.
  • Edit images for NFL games and tentpole events. Edit and transmit a high volume of images in real-time for use across the League ecosystem.
  • Capture still photos for NFL Media shows.
  • Assist with maintenance of in-house image archive. Apply metadata, archive images into Digital Asset Management system (DAM).
  • Curate and post images to photo department Instagram account.

Required Education and Experience

  • 2 years experience photo editing for digital media, preferably for editorial outlets.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or degree in progress) with emphasis in photography or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of best practices for editorial images and captions.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of content on deadline.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain quality and accuracy under deadline.
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Photo Mechanic.
  • Available to work nights and weekends in alignment with NFL game schedules.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience in sports photography preferred
  • Familiarity with content management systems (i.e. Photoshelter), DAM systems, and FTP clients.
  • Passion for NFL, strong knowledge of NFL news and events.
  • Knowledge of studio photography a plus.
  • Familiarity with photography rights and licensing.
  • Experience in live event coverage a plus.

Physical Demands

  • Potential for moderate lifting of photo gear and lighting set up for photo shoots.

Travel

  • Potential for travel around NFL tentpole events

Terms / Expected Hours of Work 

  • Part-Time, under 30 hours/week
  • Expected schedule is 3 days a week
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends, some holidays dependent on NFL game and event schedule.

Salary / Pay Range

This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job. The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

Salary

$30 - $32.50 USD
