Strategic Finance, Sales & Marketing (FP&A)
About Us:
We're on a mission to make it possible for every person, team, and company to be able to tailor their software to solve any problem and take on any challenge. Computers may be our most powerful tools, but most of us can't build or modify the software we use on them every day. At Notion, we want to change this with focus, design, and craft.
We've been working on this together since 2016, and have customers like Pixar, Mitsubishi, Figma, Plaid, Match Group, and thousands more on this journey with us. Today, we're growing fast and excited for new teammates to join us who are the best at what they do. We're passionate about building a company as diverse and creative as the millions of people Notion reaches worldwide.
Notion is an in person company, and currently requires its employees to come to the office for two Anchor Days (Mondays & Thursdays) and requests that employees spend the majority of their week in the office (including a third day).
About The Role:
What got us where we are today won’t get us where we want to go by itself. As we pursue our next big levers of growth, having clarity on what is working well and where we are (and aren’t) getting the best bang for our buck will be crucial for ensuring we push our resources behind the best bets. You will be the primary finance partner to our Marketing, Sales and CX orgs, helping them size the investments they want to make and driving accountability for delivering results. This position will serve as both an advocate for the GTM team to empower their success and as the guardrails for Finance to ensure we are getting a high ROI.
What You'll Achieve:
- Be the source of truth in Finance on all GTM (Sales, Marketing, CX) opex spend, setting annual budgets, creating detailed and accurate monthly reporting and maintaining a rolling forecast to make sure leadership has clear visibility into resource deployment
- Partner deeply with the Marketing team to continually understand their current strategy and ensure that they are adequately resourced to execute that plan, supporting their freedom to make tradeoffs in spend allocations to maximize outcomes
- Partner with the CX team to understand their staffing strategy and ensure they are able to scale our support offering in a financially efficient manner
- Collaborate with Accounting to ensure accurate accruals, and timely reporting of the monthly financials
- Support departmental specific analyses to help support GTM strategy, including LTV/CAC, payback benchmarks etc
Skills You'll Need to Bring:
- 8+ years of relevant finance/FP&A and investment banking/private equity experience; prior in-house FP&A experience is a requirement for the role
- Proficiency in accounting and experience with the month end close process, including preparation of the budget vs actuals reporting and accruals
- Experience driving budgeting, planning and forecasting processes
- Experience working with Marketing teams on both highly quantitative channels (Performance marketing, affiliates, etc.) and more qualitative channels (Brand, public relations, etc.)
- Exceptional analytical skills with both financial and operational data. Strong proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of SQL
- Willingness to partner with Data / Marketing teams to establish attribution frameworks for various channels to help monitor spend efficiency and develop a clear link between investment and returns
- High attention to detail, pride in your work quality, and emphasis on always being a truth-seeker
- Low ego and a hunger to learn, with an ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners to create alignment and drive the best outcome for Notion
Nice to Haves:
- B2B and B2C marketing experience a plus, but not required
- Experience with departmental headcount planning
We hire talented and passionate people from a variety of backgrounds because we want our global employee base to represent the wide diversity of our customers. If you’re a builder at heart, share our company values, and enthusiastic about making software toolmaking ubiquitous, we want to hear from you.
