NTT Data seeks high-achieving team players who quickly adapt to new challenges and entrepreneurial ventures. We are looking for a Salesforce Solutions Architect to work with our global client in Washington, D.C. This role will require an onsite presence at our client location.
Role Overview
The Salesforce Solution Architect is responsible for designing end-to-end Salesforce solutions that meet specific business needs while conforming to the platform standards and architectural principles established by the Platform Architect. The role focuses on understanding business processes, modeling the right data and object design, selecting appropriate Salesforce features and configurations, and ensuring the technical team has clear, implementable solution designs. The Solution Architect works at the intersection of business and technology — close enough to the business to understand intent, and close enough to the platform to make sound design decisions.
Unlike the Platform Architect, who focuses on governance, strategy, and cross-platform standards, the Solution Architect is delivery-oriented: deeply involved in sprint-level design, business requirements analysis, functional prototyping, and solution validation. The role operates within defined architectural guardrails and escalates cross-platform or standards-level decisions to the Platform Architect.
Essential Job Functions
Solution Design & Business Requirements
- Engage with business stakeholders, product owners, and business analysts to elicit, analyze, and validate functional and non-functional requirements.
- Translate business processes and requirements into detailed Salesforce solution designs, including data models, process flows, object configurations, and feature selections.
- Produce solution design documents, functional specifications, and user story acceptance criteria that serve as the basis for development.
- Evaluate Salesforce capabilities (declarative features, managed packages, AppExchange solutions) against business requirements and recommend the most appropriate approach.
- Identify gaps between business needs and out-of-the-box Salesforce functionality, proposing pragmatic solutions that balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
- FSC-specific: Design FSC solutions including relationship management workflows, financial account tracking, referral processes, and client onboarding — leveraging the Financial Services Data Model (FSDM), Actionable Relationship Center (ARC), and FSC-specific objects and features.
- Experience Cloud: Design Experience Cloud solutions for internal and external portals, including page layout, component selection, audience targeting, navigation, and user authentication — ensuring a coherent and secure digital experience aligned with IFC branding and access policies.
Tools & technologies: Salesforce Setup, Flow Builder, Object Manager, App Builder, Experience Builder, FSC frameworks.
Object & Data Modeling
- Design and document Salesforce object models, field definitions, record types, and data relationships that accurately represent business entities and support reporting needs.
- Make object-level decisions within the FSDM framework for FSC use cases, working within the data governance standards set by the Platform Architect.
- Validate data models for scalability, query performance, and governor limit compliance before handoff to development.
- Define data migration requirements and collaborate with data engineers and administrators on data loading and cleansing strategies.
Tools & technologies: Schema Builder, Salesforce Object Reference, data mapping tools.
Process & Automation Design
- Design business process automation using Salesforce declarative tools — primarily Flow — selecting the right automation type (Screen Flow, Record-Triggered Flow, Scheduled Flow, Autolaunched Flow) for each use case.
- Apply the Flow vs. Apex decision framework established by the Platform Architect, escalating cases where programmatic development is required.
- Define approval processes, validation rules, assignment rules, and escalation logic in alignment with business requirements.
- Document automation logic clearly enough for developers and administrators to implement without ambiguity.
Tools & technologies: Flow Builder, Process documentation tools, ADO.
Integration Solution Design
- Design integration solutions for specific business use cases within the integration patterns and standards defined by the Platform Architect.
- Define field mappings, data transformation logic, error handling requirements, and business rules for each integration point.
- Collaborate with integration engineers and middleware specialists to ensure integration designs are implementable and align with system-of-record decisions.
- Experience Cloud: Define integration requirements for portal data access, including which Salesforce objects and fields are exposed, how external system data is surfaced, and what authentication flows are used for portal users.
Tools & technologies: Salesforce External Services, Named Credentials, API documentation tools.
Solution Governance & Quality
- Participate in design reviews, ensuring proposed solutions conform to IFC architectural standards and best practices.
- Review developer implementations against solution design documents, providing feedback and approving solutions before release.
- Identify design-level risks, technical debt, and re-work opportunities, escalating platform-level concerns to the Platform Architect.
- Maintain solution design documentation and decision logs throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Stakeholder Engagement & Team Collaboration
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for business stakeholders during the design and build phases of any initiative.
- Facilitate solution design workshops, requirements sessions, and demos with business users and product owners.
- Mentor developers and administrators on solution intent, helping the team understand the "why" behind design decisions.
- Collaborate closely with the Platform Architect to escalate cross-cutting concerns and ensure solution-level decisions are consistent with platform strategy.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, and sprint planning as an embedded team member.
Tools & technologies: ServiceNow, ADO, Salesforce Sandbox environments.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong Salesforce platform knowledge: object model, security model, automation tools, and declarative configuration capabilities.
- Financial Services Cloud: FSC-specific objects and features, relationship management, client onboarding, referral management, and financial account design.
- Experience Cloud: site and page design, audience targeting, component configuration, guest user security, and Experience Builder.
- Business analysis and requirements engineering: the ability to facilitate workshops, document functional requirements, and translate them into technical designs.
- Data modeling: designing Salesforce object models that are clean, scalable, and reporting-friendly.
- Process automation: strong command of Flow Builder and declarative automation tools; working knowledge of when to escalate to Apex.
- Integration design at the solution level: field mappings, transformation logic, data flow documentation, and business rules for integration points.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to produce solution design documents that are actionable for development teams and understandable for business stakeholders.
- Experience working in agile delivery teams, contributing to sprints and participating in team ceremonies.
Experience
At least 5–7 years of Salesforce implementation experience, including:
- Hands-on solution design and configuration across multiple Salesforce clouds.
- Demonstrated experience with Financial Services Cloud, FSC feature configuration, and client lifecycle processes.
- Demonstrated experience with Experience Cloud, including portal design, component configuration, and user authentication.
- Business requirements analysis and solution design documentation.
- Working in agile delivery teams alongside developers, administrators, and business analysts.

- Ability to work within defined technical standards and architectural guardrails, collaborating with a senior architect.
