
Summer Intern, Real Estate Transaction Services

Internship Program Overview: Our 2026 Summer Internship Program is a paid 10-week internship program, scheduled to begin on June 8, 2026. Interns are expected to work full-time throughout the summer.
Summer interns will join an intern class consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to work on exciting projects in one of EDC’s many dynamic departments. Summer Interns will also participate in training programs, networking events, and other professional development opportunities over the course of the program.
Department Overview: NYCEDC’s Real Estate Transactions Team (RETS) is the City’s primary department for underwriting, structuring, and executing real estate and economic development transactions on City-owned land. Its mission is to transform underutilized properties into projects that promote job creation, industry-driven economic growth, housing development, and affordable community initiatives across New York City.
Intern Responsibilities:
- Support project management for multiple large-scale transactions, including the coordination of timelines, workflows, internal and external meetings, presentations, issues lists, and key project documents
- Assist with activities for competitive site dispositions, including drafting requests for proposals (RFPs), overseeing site tours, info sessions, and Q&As, and analyzing responses
- Build and maintain detailed financial models of major New York City development projects
- Draft materials to support negotiating term sheets, contracts of sale, ground leases, pre-development agreements and other agreements
- Collaborate with colleagues in other divisions in NYCEDC, such as Legal, Planning, and Government & Community Relations
- Manage professional communications with real estate developers, attorneys, consultants, and staff from City agencies
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Preferred field(s) of study: real estate, finance, urban planning, business, government
- Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC
- Demonstrated written, verbal, and analytical skills
- Demonstrated experience in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; preference for proficiency in discounted cash flows, pro formas, and project economics
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
- Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
- Ability to work full-time, Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM and complete the entirety of the 10-week program
Salary Range
$20 - $25 USD
