Territory Sales Manager (Southern New England Region)

In our mission-driven growth journey to Do Some Good for Animals and the Planet, we're seeking an exceptional Territory Sales Manager to help expand our brand across the Southern New England Territory. Reporting to the Senior Director of Sales – Eastern Region, you'll play a crucial role in driving growth, building relationships, and advocating for Open Farm. Past experience in the pet industry and/or as a Territory Sales Manager is a plus!

Note: This role will require flexible work arrangements such as occasional evening and weekend work, with overnight travel as much as 60% of the time. You must have a valid driver’s license to be considered. This position will cover the following states: Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island

In this role you will: 

Sales Optimization:

  • Sales Target Achievement - Meeting or exceeding sales targets for your assigned territory. This involves developing and executing sales strategies to drive revenue growth.
  • Forecasting and Planning - Developing sales forecasts and strategies for the territory based on historical data, market trends, and customer insights. This helps in aligning sales activities with overall company goals
  • Budget Management - Responsible for managing budgets related to sales activities, including expenses for travel, sales promotions, and customer engagements.

Customer Focus:

  • Develop existing and new client relationships within the territory, to serve as a strategic partner
  • Customer Relationship Management - Building and maintaining strong relationships with distributors, retailers, and other key stakeholders in the pet food supply chain. This includes regular store visits and frequent communication to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Product & Brand Training and Support - Providing training and support to distributors and retailers on product features, benefits, and selling techniques. Ensuring that they have the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively promote and sell Open Farm products.
  • Problem Solving - Addressing customer issues and resolving complaints promptly and effectively. This requires good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams to find solutions

Business Development/Operations:

  • New Business Development - Actively seek out new business opportunities by identifying potential customers and partnerships within the territory. This could involve prospecting, cold calling, and networking.
  • Promotions and Marketing - Working closely with marketing team to execute promotional campaigns, product launches, and other marketing activities within the territory. This may include organizing events, trade shows, and demonstrations
  • Market Analysis and Reporting - Monitoring market & industry trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to provide insights and recommendations. Regularly reporting sales results, market conditions, and customer feedback to management.
  • Compliance and Ethics - Ensuring that all sales and marketing activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
  • All other duties, as assigned

  • 3+ years working experience in related field
  • Ability to develop and execute territory sales strategies to achieve a sales target
  • Ability to analyze data to drive strategic plans
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • An outgoing personality with excellent people skills
  • Strong ability to relate and effectively build relationships with people
  • Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Proficiency in basic Excel and PowerPoint; experience with sales reporting systems
  • Proactive and positive attitude
  • Valid driver's license
  • Passion for Pets and the Planet
