Payroll Specialist

About this role:
This position will report directly to OpenTable’s Payroll Manager - NORAM. The ideal candidate is always curious, embraces change, and thrives in an ambiguous, rapid-growth environment. You are detailed and highly organized, with hands-on payroll administration and processing experience. You have an eagerness to improve processes and execute and excel both working independently and collaborating with colleagues. In this role, you will:
- Calculate and process payroll for all employees, including salaries, overtime, bonuses, and other benefits.
- Ensure that payroll is processed accurately and on time, in compliance with Mexican labor laws.
- Ensure compliance with all Mexican tax regulations, including the timely submission of tax withholdings and contributions.
- Stay up to date with changes in labor laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and provide clarification regarding pay, deductions, and benefits.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, including timesheets, pay stubs, deductions, and tax filings.
- Manage employee benefits programs, ensuring deductions for benefits, retirement, insurance, and other programs are accurately calculated.
- Process payroll adjustments such as sick leave, vacation pay, and other adjustments.
- Assist with year-end reporting, including preparation of issuing year-end pay stubs.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting departments to ensure that payroll expenses are correctly recorded in financial statements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for payroll processes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.

- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field is preferred.
- At least 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in Mexico or Latin America.
- Knowledge of Mexican labor laws, tax regulations, and benefits systems is essential.
- Experience with payroll software and systems, CloudPay is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Mexican payroll regulations and statutory benefits (IMSS, ISR, etc.).
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and processing.
- Proficient in Excel and other spreadsheet software.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with employees and other departments.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Highly analytical with extraordinary organization and prioritization skills and a proven ability to meet hard deadlines.
- Dedicated, flexible, and assertive, with a creative approach to problem-solving.
