Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.
We are seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to support Oura’s Retail business line. This role will serve as a key accounting partner for our retail operations, helping ensure accurate revenue recognition, clean retail account balances, scalable processes, and strong internal controls as the business grows.
This person will be successful if they are highly independent, comfortable digging into large sets of transactional data, detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and willing to ask thoughtful questions to get to the right answer. They should also understand the importance of strong documentation, disciplined execution during close, and maintaining an effective SOX controls environment.
What you will do:
- Own and support key aspects of the retail order-to-cash cycle, including order management, billing, payment application, receivables support, reconciliations, reporting, and revenue recognition.
- Record and analyze accruals, reserves, deferred revenue, AR-related entries, and other retail-related journal entries in accordance with contracts, business activity, and accounting guidance.
- Prepare and own monthly close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, account flux analysis, and resolution of unusual balances or discrepancies.
- Review retail and partnership contracts and assess revenue recognition implications under ASC 606.
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, IT/Business Systems, Legal, Sales, Retail Sales, and Logistics to support business processes and resolve operational accounting issues.
- Support onboarding of new retail and distribution partners by helping establish scalable accounting processes, reviewing transaction flows, and validating ERP setup.
- Maintain and improve process documentation, including documentation that supports internal controls, audit readiness, and scalable execution.
- Identify process gaps, investigate root causes, and drive improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and scale.
- Monitor financial and operational KPIs related to retail accounting and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Serve as a thoughtful, hands-on problem solver who can balance operational support with sound accounting judgment in a fast-moving environment.
This is a remote US role. We have offices in San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles for those who prefer hybrid or office settings. Oura employees in other major cities (like Boston and New York) occasionally gather informally at local co-working locations.
We would love to consider you for this role if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting experience in a senior accountant or similar role; a mix of public accounting and industry experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including significant experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition.
- Experience reviewing complex contracts and independently forming technical accounting conclusions.
- Experience with retail accounting, including retailer reconciliations, deductions/credits, or large retail partner environments
- Systems and tools experience; NetSuite and FloQast are a plus.
- A highly independent work style, strong analytical skills, and a proactive, questioning mindset.
