ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you passionate about building the best possible soft goods? We are looking for a driven, creative, and fun-loving Quality Control Specialist to join our team and help us redefine the world of soft goods.

As a Quality Control Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful mass production of our existing and new soft goods product designs. You will collaborate closely with our soft goods product operations team, designers, Project Managers, external manufacturers, and suppliers to ensure that our lifetime guaranteed products are built to last. You will also be responsible for AQL inspections per outgoing shipment, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving our existing product lines.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about building top-of-the-line gear that is functional, beautiful, and cost-effective. You will also be responsible for staying up-to-date on the latest trends in soft goods design. We believe that soft goods can be both functional and beautiful, and we are committed to creating products that meet the needs of our customers while also pushing the boundaries of design. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect all outgoing shipments to ensure they meet our quality standards. This includes conducting visual inspections of all outgoing shipments, using AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) standards to determine the number of defects that are acceptable in a shipment, and documenting any defects that are found.
  • Review IQC/OQC programs for factory and major vendors, and identify areas for improvement. This includes ensuring that our incoming quality control (IQC) and outgoing quality control (OQC) programs are in place and being followed, and identifying any areas where the programs can be improved.
  • Update quality control documents to reflect changes in production or ECOs. This includes updating quality control documents to reflect any changes in production or engineering change orders (ECOs), and ensuring that all relevant documentation is up to date and accessible to the appropriate personnel.
  • Investigate root causes of quality issues and implement corrective actions. This includes working with the factory to investigate the root causes of quality issues, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring that the corrective actions are effective and that the quality issues do not recur.
  • Organize and maintain critical documentation and communications related to product manufacturing. This includes organizing and maintaining critical documentation and communications related to product manufacturing, ensuring that all relevant documentation is up to date and accessible to the appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate with Peak Design product operations on the status of production and identify potential issues early on. This includes communicating regularly with Peak Design product operations on the status of production, providing feedback on the quality of our products as they are being manufactured, and identifying any potential issues early on.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in soft goods design and manufacturing, and work with designers and engineers to implement improvements.   • Develop test plans, execute them, and analyze results to ensure new product designs meet performance requirements. ABOUT YOU

You have over five years of experience in overseas manufacturing, with years of hands-on experience working to develop soft goods products. You’re a skilled manager with the ability to lead teams, but also have the technical aptitude and experience to navigate complex manufacturing processes and quality challenges at all levels.

Skills

  • Proven team leadership and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Understanding of quality assurance standards and statistically-based quality control standards (AQL, GRR).
  • Experience with mechanical design and manufacturing 
  • Passion for gear (e.g., photography, outdoor products) and strong opinions on product quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • You use and care a lot about gear (photography, outdoor, or other passion areas). 
  • You have strong opinions about the products that you use in your life and enjoy debating what makes these products great.
  • You’re a systems thinker and love optimizing workflow and efficiency - you are capable of navigating surprise roadblocks with rational thinking and problem solving

  • Must legally reside and work in Vietnam.
