POSITION: Sr. Manager, Data Management & Governance
REPORTS TO: VP, Research & Evaluation

LOCATION:  United States 

NOTE: This hybrid role is primarily remote, with occasional in-office requirements. The ideal candidate is based in a city with a Per Scholas campus

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a strategic, detail-oriented, and collaborative Data Management & Governance lead to join our team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving the organization’s data infrastructure, governance frameworks, and information strategy. You will work cross-functionally with leadership, product, technology, and program teams to drive data excellence and ensure high-quality, reliable data that supports strategic priorities and programmatic goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build, implement, and continuously improve organization-wide systems and processes that enhance data quality, integrity, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Support the VP in executing a strategic vision and roadmap for data management, governance, and solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into actionable business requirements.
  • Identify critical data elements and define requirements to inform operational planning and prioritization.
  • Lead the problem management process to proactively identify, remediate, and escalate data quality issues.
  • Establish and maintain metadata and reference data standards, and support best practices in data governance.
  • Develop and enforce quality controls to ensure data accuracy, including automated data cleaning, validation, and auditing processes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of incoming data and maintain detailed documentation (e.g., codebooks, methodologies, anomalies).
  • Support enterprise data infrastructure initiatives, including data warehousing and data lake implementation.
  • Perform ad-hoc queries and generate reports using Salesforce and Tableau to support decision-making.

You collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams to create solutions that elevate decision-making and organizational impact.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or related roles
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Tableau, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace required.
  • A strong understanding of relational databases and experience combining data from disparate data sources to identify insights 
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing data governance frameworks and quality control processes
  • Has strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL, Python, and R or SPSS is highly beneficial.
  • Familiarity with data collection tools such as Formstack, FormAssembly, and survey tools such as Qualtrics or SurveyMonkey is preferred.
  • Familiarity with iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service) solutions such as MuleSoft, Zapier, Workato, and Jitterbit is a plus.
  • A strong and agile decision-maker with conflict resolution skills
  • Plans, problem-solves, and manages ambiguity in a dynamic environment
  • Effectively balances priorities to meet multiple deadlines
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative, and learns quickly
  • Has a growth mindset and uses feedback to improve practice

  • Works well independently as well as collaboratively with a team
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment

For this role specifically, we are targeting a salary range of $70,000 $75,000 where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including geography in which the selected candidate resides, and alignment with qualifications and experience.
