About the opportunity

The Staff Engineer position represents a distinguished level of expertise and responsibility within Plexus. As a senior engineering team member, you play a crucial role in driving technical excellence and shaping architectural decisions. The Staff Engineer guides fellow engineers, but you will also contribute to the overall engineering strategy and long-term technical vision.

 What you will accomplish

  • Technical Leadership: Mentor and guide senior and junior engineers, offering insights on best practices and code reviews and aiming to elevate the engineering capabilities of teams.
  • Architectural Design: Collaborate with Architects to understand designs and technical requirements. You actively participate in architectural discussions, proposing and evaluating solutions that align with business goals, scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Strategic Vision: Contribute to developing technical strategies and roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business objectives and cutting-edge technologies. You assess the feasibility and impact of adopting new tools, frameworks, or processes while considering long-term implications, which are also within their purview.
  • Standardization and Best Practices: Analyze new and existing codebases and initiatives, leveraging your expertise to create technical documentation for standardization, references, and reporting purposes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Tackle complex technical challenges, often involving system-wide optimizations, performance enhancements, or scalability improvements.
  • Collaboration and Communication: collaborate with cross-functional teams to address and resolve technical issues as they arise.
  • System Support:
    • Configure, customize and integrate software or hardware components.
    • Conduct system testing and troubleshooting to ensure proper functionality.
    • Provide technical support, maintenance, and upgrades for deployed solutions.

Achievements and Proficiencies

  • Educational Credentials: You have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science and Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • Proven Experience: You have Seven years of experience in software engineering and(or) enterprise web development.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • You implemented and understood the operational aspects of a specific solution, ensuring its successful deployment, functionality, and ongoing support.
    • Knowledge of twelve-factor application development.
    • You have a strong command of programming languages, frameworks, and design patterns.
  • Preferred Technical knowledge:
    • Experience with Agile.
    • Knowledge of APIs, publish/subscriber patterns, and implementations based on NodeJS, NextJS, React,  JavaScript, Spring Boot, Java, Kotlin, MuleSoft, Kafka, AWS Cloud Platform, CI/CD pipelines, and many other supporting technologies.
  • Systems Architecture: You have demonstrated an understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and Microservices.
  • Problem Solving Skills: You Solved complex technical problems with innovative solutions.
  • Forward Thinking: Anticipated obstacles and communicated effectively to execute the plan.
  • Project Management: Provided solutions and worked cross-functionally, facilitating the successful completion of projects.
  • Strategic Partnership and Relationship Building: Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence others to develop relationships that reflect continuous positive experiences.

We work in a hybrid environment. We are remote on Monday and Tuesday with Wed-Fri in office.
