The Opportunity

We’re making it easy for all of the developers on Earth to get started with public APIs in seconds.

The Postman API Network is the world’s largest repository of APIs, with tens of thousands of APIs to check the weather, look up sports scores, book events, plan travel, send payments, and more. As developers, we know there’s no better feeling in the world than seeing your code work, especially when you’re integrating with someone else’s API. We’re making it easy for developers to achieve that outcome as quickly as possible.

We’re looking for an experienced engineer who is excited not only about hands-on building as we ship and iterate on a weekly basis to get our product ready for GA, but who can also serve as a role model and mentor to other engineers. This role involves making key technical decisions and improvements to the system, as well as effectively making impact through influence within and across teams that span multiple time zones.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the development of new capabilities for the Postman API Network, driving both the frontend architecture and backend API development to improve user experience at scale.

  • Architect and implement scalable, high-performance systems that enable rapid iteration and experimentation on core product features while maintaining system reliability.

  • Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence across the team. Be a role model for the team.

  • Facilitate clear and effective communication within your team and across cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment and unblocking any challenges to achieve business goals.

  • Moves fast. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are excited about rapidly iterating on features to achieve business goals.

  • Pragmatic problem solver. You get excited about figuring out the minimal, most efficient way to build the next feature.

  • Expert in system architecture. You have a deep understanding of building scalable, high-performance systems that allow rapid iteration and experimentation.

  • Strong communication skills. You excel at facilitating clear and effective communication within your team and across departments, ensuring alignment and proactively unblocking challenges to achieve business goals.

  • Remote collaboration. You effectively collaborate across time zones, ensuring team engagement and alignment.

Past experience

Must have:

  • 7+ years of experience writing production code and maintaining production systems.

  • Proficient with React, JavaScript, and Node.js.

  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud architectures.

  • Track record of delivering high-impact, user-facing products.

  • Passionate about mentoring and developing other engineers.

  • Coding experience, with recent examples of contributing significantly to core features in a fast-paced, iterative environment.

  • Strong experience in communicating across teams, aligning stakeholders, and unblocking challenges to ensure business goals are met.

  • Experience working with remote and distributed teams across time zones.

  • Located between ET and CET.

Nice-to-have:

  • Proficient with TypeScript

  • Experience working on scaling products.

  • Experience working in a two-sided network

  • Experience working on developer tools.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
