The Opportunity
As a Staff Developer Advocate at Postman, you will be a strategic leader and visionary for our global developer community. Reporting directly to the Head of Developer Relations, you’ll help define and execute a comprehensive developer advocacy strategy that spans the entire Postman API platform—from our foundational API tools to our latest innovations like AI Agent Builder and Postman Flows.
We’re looking for a seasoned developer relations professional with a passion for continuous learning and a natural curiosity. In this role, you’ll translate your deep technical expertise into engaging developer-focused content that inspires, educates, and empowers millions of developers to do more with the Postman platform.
You’ll also champion thought leadership on “all things APIs,” including new frontiers at the intersection of APIs and Agentic AI. Leveraging your familiarity with AI/ML, intelligent automation, and workflow integration, you’ll quickly grasp emerging technologies and effectively advocate Postman solutions to the broader community.
As a senior member of the Developer Relations team, you’ll influence product strategy by channeling the “voice of the developer” into the product roadmap and mentor a team of passionate developer advocates to address the fast-paced, evolving needs of developers worldwide.
What You’ll Do
Platform Evangelism
- Advocate for the full Postman platform and demonstrate how our core API development tools seamlessly integrate with products like AI Agent Builder and Postman Flows.
- Develop and deliver compelling, high-quality technical content—including demos, tutorials, videos, and workshops—that highlights how our product ecosystem works together.
Thought Leadership & External Representation
- Represent Postman at conferences and industry events through keynotes, thought leadership sessions, and high-level panel discussions.
- Produce influential technical content—such as white papers, blog posts, and publications—that helps set industry standards and encourages innovation.
- Stay current on emerging technologies and trends, using these insights to shape the future of API development and best practices.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor and guide developer advocates and emerging leaders within the Developer Relations team.
- Foster a culture of excellence and innovation through strategic oversight, coaching, and by establishing best practices for the team.
Product & Marketing Leadership Collaboration
- Gather and relay developer feedback to Product, Engineering and Product Marketing teams, ensuring alignment with community needs and driving continuous improvement.
- Serve as a key liaison between the developer community and Postman product teams, ensuring developer insights inform product strategy.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives that enhance product adoption, boost community engagement, and improve market positioning.
About You
- 10+ years in software development, developer advocacy, or a related technical role, including significant leadership experience relating to developer tooling, infrastructure SaaS and/or API platform environments.
- Deep understanding of API design, RESTful services, and modern web development (knowledge of GraphQL, gRPC, WebSockets, and MQTT as “nice to have”), prior experience with Postman or similar API development tools.
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, intelligent automation, or workflow integration is a plus, enabling you to quickly grasp and advocate for AI Agent Builder and Postman Flows.
- Outstanding public speaking and written communication abilities, with a knack for engaging both developer and executive audiences, delivering impactful technical and thought leadership content through keynotes, articles, video and product demos
- Proven success in engaging global developer communities and influencing product strategy at an executive level.
- Exceptional leadership skills, including mentoring teams and emerging leaders.
- Strong commitment to empowering developers and enhancing their experience with technology.
- A proactive approach to identifying industry trends and shaping the future of API innovation.
The reasonably estimated base salary for this role ranges from $200,000 - $250,000 plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.

At Postman, we embrace a hybrid work model. For all roles based out of San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, Bangalore, Noida, Hyderabad, and New York, employees are expected to come into the office 3-days a week.
