Senior Equipment Engineer - Cleaning (m/f/d)

About the Job

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Equipment Engineer - Cleaning (m/f/d) to join the Semiconductor FAB team at our partner company. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the planning, installation, and optimization of wet cleaning tools to ensure contamination-free wafer processing and process stability in the cleanroom.

As part of the buildout of Black FabONE, you will work at the intersection of equipment, process, and infrastructure - making a critical impact on yield, reliability, and the scalability of our semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.

Join our partner company: A German hardware startup focused on designing and manufacturing groundbreaking microchips. The company develops energy-efficient, high-performance components with the potential to redefine global semiconductor connectivity through graphene photonics.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead the planning, installation, and integration of wet cleaning equipment into the fab
  • Define requirements for chemical supply, drain systems, exhaust, and safety infrastructure
  • Evaluate cleaning tools, manage procurement processes, and coordinate with equipment vendors
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of installation, including hookup, startup, and qualification
  • Build robust documentation and training materials for safe and efficient tool operation
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance and equipment reliability programs
  • Collaborate with process and operations teams to improve yield, uptime, and tool stability

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with wet cleaning tools in a semiconductor manufacturing environment
  • Proven success in tool installation, fab startups, or cleanroom expansion projects
  • Deep technical understanding of chemical formulation, particle removal, and surface preparation techniques
  • Familiarity with facility infrastructure needs, including chemical delivery systems, ventilation, and drainage/safety compliance
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to process stability and documentation
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to train and support cross-functional teams
  • Fluent in English. German is a plus

Please note that we are looking for support in the Aachen office of our portfolio company. Eligibility to work within the EU is required as well.
