Research Associate III

ProKidney’s Bioprocess R&D, Morrisville, NC is seeking a talented, motivated and skilled Research Associate III (on-site) for studies relating to mechanism(s) of action of a cell-based therapeutic and its potency assurance strategy. The individual will be responsible for, and bring proficiency with, performing mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, qPCR, RNA sequencing, ELISA, Western blot, and generating in vitro data. They will design experiments, record and interpret data, maintain equipment, and assist in ordering lab supplies. The individual must be detail-oriented, have strong communication skills, and be willing to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Independent reading and understanding of the scientific and technical literature for new assay development and troubleshooting is highly desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Perform mammalian cell culture, maintain cell lines, and perform cell-based assays.
  • Design and execute qRT-PCR and qPCR protocols.
  • Analyze and interpret RNA sequencing data using advanced programs to help guide mechanistic actions.
  • Perform Western blot and ELISA-based assays, protein determination, flow cytometry, image based qualitative and quantitative analysis, and other colorimetric assays.
  • Record all data and summarize in an organized fashion
  • Work with the lab head and other members to design, develop, and execute experiments.

 

Requirements

Education/Training

BS | MS Degree with 4+ years of relevant experience in academic lab or industry required

Experience

4+ years of cell-based research experience highly preferred

Skills/Abilities

• Basic understanding of, and expertise with molecular biology, cell culture and in vitro assays
• Strong attention to detail. 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
• Able to effectively use information technology with a proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Additional scientific programs a plus.
• Exceptional planning and organizational skills. 
• Ability to multi-task and use good judgment when making decisions.
• Demonstrated capability to work as a strong team player and collaboratively
