THE ROLE
Lead and mentor a team of engineers located in Santa Clara, California, driving Infrastructure Security, Product Security and DevSecOps initiatives protecting Pure’s cloud services.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Infrastructure Security responsibilities:
- Evaluate and implement security controls around third party cloud provider configurations
- Work with central security teams on security policies around networking
- Evaluate security controls around usage of third party SaaS vendors
Product Security responsibilities:
- Lead and scale the Product Security program, aligning security strategy with business and engineering objectives
- Coordinate and ensure the timely remediation of identified risks and vulnerabilities.
- Ensure local initiatives align with company-wide security programs by working hand-in-hand with central security teams.
DevSecOps responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers to build tooling to support other teams in following security best practices
- Own and drive DevSecOps initiatives, implementing shift-left security tooling such as static analysis, dependency scanning, and secrets detection.
- Build processes, tooling, and dashboards to track and communicate vulnerabilities, risks, and security posture across over 200 cloud services.
- Adopt an automation-first approach to create scalable solutions for continuous security control assessment.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 2+ years of technical management experience while staying hands-on
- 5+ years of hands-on software development experience, preferably in cloud services and security-related areas
- Experience in building and managing a team with senior engineers
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Patience, energy, and calmness under pressure. Ability to deal with ambiguity and drive decision making.
Infrastructure Security requirements:
- Proven expertise in cloud security posture management
- Solid knowledge of identity management
- Ability to evaluate third party SaaS security controls
- Ability to evaluate networking security controls
Product Security requirements:
- Proven expertise in managing projects throughout the entire SDLC, delivering products on schedule, and ensuring feedback loops from customers into the development
- Ability to lead and influence multiple stakeholders across cross-functional teams
- Solid knowledge of end-to-end quality and security best practices
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical, cross-functional groups.
DevSecOps requirements:
- Strong customer focus
- Support compliance initiatives (SOC2, ISO) by ensuring audit readiness and security visibility across critical systems
- Set goals for improving DX’ security posture, track and periodically communicate to stakeholders as well as ensure corrective actions/mitigations as needed
- Security certifications are a plus
We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
