Senior Tax Accountant / Senior Financial Accountant

Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the business meets its tax obligations while delivering high-quality advisory services that support decision-making and innovation. This role will see you working closely with people across Accounting & Finance and the wider business, as well as key external stakeholders and advisors.
You’ll apply your technical knowledge to a wide range of tax issues – from compliance and reporting, to advising on major projects, cross-border transactions, and R&D incentive programs.

We are seeking an experienced Big-4 trained tax professional with solid NZ tax compliance experiences, ideally with US tax experience or an openness to learning US tax.

About You:
We’re looking for someone who brings more than just technical ability — you’re proactive, adaptable, and a great communicator who enjoys working with others to solve complex problems.
What You’ll Do
- Manage transfer pricing to meet regulatory standards
- Manage all indirect taxes including in all jurisdictions, including NZ & AU GST, VAT and US Sales Tax
- Work with external advisors to prepare overseas tax returns (both direct and indirect) within various jurisdictions including US and Australia
- Prepare internal quarterly Group tax calculation including deferred tax
- Assist with preparing written advice and documentation relating to key tax issues and impact assessments
- Preparation of US and NZ provisional tax calculations
- Preparation of the annual financial statements tax disclosures
- Support the calculation of final Group tax outputs
- Responsibility for preparation of the calculation of Research and Development Tax Incentives
Skills & Experience
You are a CA or CPA qualified with 4+ years of New Zealand Corporate tax. You will have a strong technical background and in depth understanding of NZ tax legislation, experience managing international tax such as Transfer Pricing and R&D Tax Credit. US tax experience would be an advantage.
You are autonomous, driven and self-directed with a track-record of delivering multiple workstreams to deadline. You show initiative and innovation and have the ability to solve complex issues with sound judgement. Excellent interpersonal skills will help you engage across multiple teams and partner well at a senior level.
