ABOUT THE JOB

In this role you will learn about the RADAR system end-to-end by triaging system level issues. This encompasses the full RADAR stack from RFID reader behavior to inventory tracking in the cloud and everything in between.  Your role will directly impact the quality of the RADAR product and system reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Triage performance or operational issues from the field and systematically/repeatably identify root causes
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts to resolve system performance issues across hardware, firmware and software disciplines
  • Write triage process runbooks and debugging scripts to enable others to more quickly identify and resolve system issues
  • Maintain and enhance Python data analysis scripts used to optimize system performance
  • Clearly and concisely document and communicate status of debugging processes to the wider team and leadership

ABOUT YOU

Required:

  • You have a B.S. in Engineering or any equivalent technical discipline
  • You have strong problem solving skills
  • You have a willingness to tackle open-ended problems head-on and dive into detailed analysis to understand system behavior 
  • You are proficient with Python
  • You are familiar with Linux commands and basic networking concepts
  • You maintain a general attitude of "figure it out" when faced with a difficult problem of any type

Preferred:

  • You have 2+ years of experience in industry working on integrated hardware/software products
  • You are proficient with Python data analysis libraries like pandas
  • You have experience writing database queries in SQL
  • You have experience using Cloud platforms such as GCP
  • You have hands-on experience testing integrated systems with emphasis on analyzing large datasets against key performance metrics 
  • You have worked with wireless technologies such as RFID or UWB

At RADAR, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The expected base salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $120,000.00. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors,  including job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.You will also be eligible to receive other benefits including: equity, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, life and disability benefits, 401k plan,  flexible time off, and paid parental leave. The pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.

In your first 30 days, you will:

  • Learn Radar’s mission, technology stack and core values.
  • Complete onboarding and security compliance training.
  • Shadow a system expert during issue triage

In your first 60 days, you will:

  • Review technical documentation for the RADAR system
  • Make improvements to existing debug and analysis scripts
  • Write a run-book for triaging a system level issue

In your first 90 days, you will:

  • Independently triage a system issue
  • Develop a debugging script that reduces the amount of time engineers spend triaging issues
  • Identify key performance indicators that can be monitored to more quickly detect issues
