Ours is a fast-paced environment where individuals can stretch and be challenged to pursue their fullest potential.

Re:Build was founded to pioneer a profitable model for the revitalization of US manufacturing. We’ve assembled a powerful set of complimentary capabilities and lines of business that enable us to pursue a wide range of end markets. Our acquired businesses are grounded in build-to-print and by-the-hour engineering and design services, and we’re leveraging their combined expertise to migrate to increasingly sophisticated program development and production, as well as the generation of our own products. Our unique set of capabilities lend themselves to highly complex systems and products, and we offer customers a range of services including product and systems design, automation, fabrication, assembly, and large volume contract manufacturing. Our customers span a wide array of industries including aerospace, defense, mobility, healthcare, pharma, biotech, clean tech, chemicals, energy, lifestyle, food production, and industrial equipment.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced backend engineer to join a team building AI-driven power-user applications in the CAD/CAM space. You will own C++ powered web services, working closely with product engineering to integrate CAM libraries into our web product.

The ideal candidate loves working with C++ and has hands-on experience with gRPC. You are independent, take ownership, and light up when facing a hard problem rather than shying away from it. You know your stuff but are not afraid to admit knowledge gaps and welcome constructive criticism. You’ve worked in a startup environment and love shipping right-sized code lighting fast. The ideal candidate has deployed new technology coming from an R&D team to a production product before. Prior experience in the CAD/CAM domain, or with HPC using CUDA or distributed compute, is a strong plus but not required.

We are the kind of team that gets excited about stepping outside our comfort zones – picking up a new technology, diving into an unfamiliar domain, or tackling a gnarly technical challenge. At ReCAM, we are building new, automation-first computer-aided manufacturing applications. It is early stage, so we ship fast and adapt as we learn from user testing, while striving for the technical excellence that enables rapid development. If you enjoy building new and cool software, you will fit right in.

Export Control Requirement:  Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asyum.

What you get to do

  • Design, build, and own gRPC services in C++ that power our web product.
  • Integrate CAM/CAD libraries into web services, partnering closely with product engineering and the R&D team.
  • Deploy and operate C++ services in the cloud, applying DevOps/SRE practices like CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure as code.
  • Set and elevate code standards and team-wide engineering practices that improve code quality and engineering culture.
  • Engage in thoughtful peer review and technical reasoning to establish shared software engineering standards.
  • Share your C++ knowledge with the team and help others level up.
  • Ship fast in an early-stage environment, adapting quickly as you learn from user testing.

What you bring to the Team

he essentials

  • A Bachelor’s in CS and 6+ years in industry, or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional experience with modern C++ (6–10 years) and fluency with essential C++17/20 features such as smart pointers, const expressions, lambdas, and concepts.
  • Strong systems programming fundamentals: memory management, multithreading, performance profiling, and debugging.
  • Experience building C++ web services, or ample experience with both C++ and backend development and confidence owning gRPC services in C++.
  • Experience designing APIs (RPC, REST, or GraphQL) and a sense for what good API design looks like in one or more of these paradigms.
  • Experience leading teams building and maintaining C++ codebases over time, or building open-source C++ libraries with other contributors.
  • Familiarity with CMake and C++ dependency/package managers such as conan2 (preferred) and vcpkg.
  • Familiarity with cloud providers like AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP and containerized deployment solutions such as EC2/ECS/EKS or equivalent.
  • Understanding of DevOps/SRE principles: continuous delivery, CI/CD pipelines, deployment environments, IaC, telemetry, observability, and capacity planning.
  • Proper working knowledge of git and docker/containers.

Nice to have

  • Working knowledge of common CAD/CAM file formats (STEP, BREP, STL, OBJ, etc.).
  • Experience with geometric kernels such as OCCT/OpenCASCADE (preferred), Parasolid, ACIS, or similar.
  • Experience with G-code, toolpaths, or machining simulation.
  • Experience with OpenGL/WebGL, three.js, and/or 3D rendering in the browser.
  • Prior start-up, early-stage, or greenfield experience.
  • Personal projects or a portfolio you would love to share and talk about.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
