Manager / Sr Manager, Merchandise Planning
As the Manager / Senior Manager, Merchandise Planning, you will play a pivotal role in driving the operational success and strategic growth of our business. This position focuses on aligning inventory with demand, ensuring that the right products are available in the right quantities across your dedicated channel, while minimizing excess stock and maximizing sell-through. You’ll own the category-level inventory plans and work closely with cross-functional teams to translate financial, sales, and assortment objectives into actionable inventory strategies.
This is a high-impact role requiring a blend of strategic thinking, analytical expertise, and a deep understanding of the apparel industry’s unique inventory challenges. You will be a key player in ensuring that inventory supports both short-term sales goals and long-term growth, all while balancing operational efficiency and agility.
What you’ll do:
With this role comes key accountabilities and responsibilities which include and are not limited to:
- Own Category-Level Inventory Planning: Lead inventory strategies for assigned categories, ensuring assortment plans, buy plans, and replenishment strategies align with sales forecasts and financial targets.
- Assortment & Buy Plans: Own and manage the development and execution of assortment and buy plans, collaborating with Merchandising and Buying to ensure product availability meets demand.
- Inventory Optimization: Drive inventory efficiency by balancing stock levels, reducing excess inventory, and minimizing out-of-stocks while supporting planned sales.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Merchandising, Buying, and Supply Chain teams to align inventory plans with company goals and operational needs. Serve as the primary point of contact between inventory planning and other departments.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Use data and forecasting tools to track inventory performance, identify trends, and adjust strategies to meet business objectives.
- Replenishment & Stock Management: Oversee SKU-level replenishment, ensuring timely availability of key products and maintaining the integrity of “always in stock” programs.
- Inventory Financial Planning: Work with the Planning Strategy Sr. Director and senior leadership to forecast financial targets related to inventory, ensuring alignment with broader company goals.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve planning processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration across teams.
What you’ll need:
- 7-10 years of experience in planning/buying/merchandising
- Strong Analytical and Math Skills
- Strong Excel Knowledge
- Ability to deal successfully with complexities of an expanding organization
