Position Summary

Platform.sh is seeking an Executive Vice President of Engineering Operations & Deliverability to scale and refine our remote, globally distributed engineering organization. Reporting to the CTO, this role is at the heart of connecting strategy to execution, empowering teams to operate at their best while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous growth. As a leader in this role, you’ll play a key part in shaping a scalable, efficient engineering framework that positions us for sustainable success.

As the EVP of Engineering Operations & Deliverability, your expertise will be pivotal in guiding and empowering leaders across four key streams, ensuring their teams deliver exceptional results while seamlessly aligning operations with business objectives:

  • Operations (SRE): Leverage your experience to foster a proactive, reliability-focused culture, transforming platform stability and operational resilience across our fleet of tens of thousands of servers.
  • Platform Engineering: Help strengthen, scale, and shape, the architecture and systems that support current and future growth.
  • Customer-Experience Engineering: Provide insights to drive the creation of customer-centric features, ensuring every development decision adds measurable value and elevates the user experience.
  • Engineering Operations: Enable engineering excellence by refining processes, selecting the right tools, and fostering efficiency.

This newly created role reflects our deep commitment to scaling intentionally and thoughtfully. You’ll play a pivotal part in aligning engineering efforts to strategic goals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and driving innovations that enable long-term success. With the exciting opportunity to lead transformational initiatives, you will help shape the future of our platform and ensure it remains at the forefront of industry innovation.

What to expect

  • Partner closely with the CTO to translate high-level strategy into actionable goals for the engineering teams. Your initial focus will be on establishing structures, reporting frameworks, and processes to articulate engineering’s contributions and enable effective prioritization.
  • Ensure resource allocation balances the development of new features with maintenance and technical debt management, emphasizing scalability, reliability, and efficiency. Proactively embed SRE principles to enhance platform stability and operational resilience.
  • Deepen alignment between engineering, product, and design teams to deliver exceptional solutions. By fostering early and frequent collaboration, you’ll ensure engineering’s contributions are integral to creating user-focused, innovative products.
  • Empower engineers to take initiative, drive measurable results, and continuously improve. Build an environment where diverse perspectives are celebrated, and team members feel inspired to grow, learn, and succeed.
  • Lead key projects that elevate the engineering organization’s agility and scalability. With a focus on reinvention and innovation, you will position Platform.sh for continued success and growth.

What you bring

  • Demonstrated expertise in scaling engineering organizations: You have successfully led and expanded engineering teams beyond 100 members, effectively managing managers and directors while fostering alignment within diverse, global, and remote teams. Your deep understanding of the practices that drive early success, combined with your ability to implement scalable structures and processes, ensures sustainable growth and operational excellence.
  • Operational focus with a strategic mindset: With a strong ability to implement and optimize processes, you excel at translating leadership's strategy into actionable, operational goals. Your leadership ensures the team balances day-to-day execution with long-term planning, enabling consistent delivery and platform scalability.
  • Expertise in modern engineering and operational practices: You bring a deep understanding of SRE practices, CI/CD pipelines, PaaS, infrastructure management, and/or web application development. Your operational expertise ensures platform stability, resilience, and continuous improvement.
  • A track record of driving measurable outcomes: You have a proven ability to align teams around key objectives, leveraging metrics and data-driven insights to track progress, deliver results, and continuously refine workflows.
  • Strategic and impactful communication: You excel at articulating priorities, progress, and outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment at all levels. Your communication fosters trust and collaboration across departments.
  • A commitment to team empowerment: You create an environment where engineers feel supported and encouraged to take ownership of their work. Through mentorship and professional development, you cultivate a culture of accountability, innovation, and pride in delivery.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
