Grants & Compliance Manager
The company
At Rescue.co, we build technology that saves lives.
Every day, our dispatch systems connect people in urgent need with medical, security, and roadside assistance - faster, smarter, and with more reliability than ever before. Today, our platform coordinates the largest network of ambulances, security, airevac and roadside responders in East Africa.
We’re looking for passionate team members to help design, build, and scale the core systems and keep our operations running smoothly in a high-pressure, high-impact environment. If you thrive on meaningful challenges, love crafting reliable tech systems, or love the thrill of running fast-paced, high-impact operations - and if want to be part of a team that impacts lives every day - we’d love to hear from you.
The position
The Grants & Compliance Manager will report to the Director of Partnerships and will oversee rescue.co’s portfolio of donor-funded projects, ensuring strong project & financial management, contract compliance, and effective coordination across departments. You will be the key link between Partnerships, Finance, and Operations, supporting proposal development, budget tracking, and donor reporting.
You will strengthen our internal systems for grant oversight and compliance, while providing strategic input into how we manage, report, and communicate our impact to funders.
Who you are
You are meticulous, organised, and thrive on ensuring that projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in full compliance with donor expectations. You enjoy structure and process but also understand the realities of delivering impact in fast-moving, resource-limited settings. You are as comfortable reviewing a budget and variance report as you are coordinating with technical and field teams to ensure compliance and quality.
What You’ll Be Doing
Grant Compliance & Financial Oversight
- Ensure full compliance with donor and contractual requirements, including procurement, branding, and audit readiness.
- Lead financial reporting to donors, ensuring consistency between narrative and financial reports.
- Monitor budgets, spending, and burn rates in collaboration with finance and project leads.
- Conduct variance analyses and provide recommendations for corrective action.
- Support budget revisions, extensions, and other grant modifications.
- Maintain Rescue’s compliance framework and train teams on donor requirements.
Grant Management & Donor Coordination
- Maintain an updated grants tracker covering deliverables, deadlines, and compliance status.
- Coordinate the consolidation of inputs for donor reports (narrative and financial).
- Serve as the primary liaison with donor representatives on compliance and reporting matters.
- Support external audits and due diligence processes with documentation and data validation.
Project Coordination & Internal Systems
- Track project implementation milestones and flag potential risks early.
- Coordinate quarterly project review meetings and follow up on agreed actions.
- Strengthen internal project documentation, version control, and institutional memory.
- Support monitoring and learning by integrating donor feedback and reporting insights.
Proposal Development
- Lead or support the preparation of concept notes, budgets, and full proposals.
- Coordinate multi-departmental inputs to ensure technical and financial accuracy.
- Maintain a repository of donor templates, budgets, and organizational credentials.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, project management, development, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience managing grants and compliance in humanitarian, health, or development organizations.
- Strong understanding of donor regulations (including foundations and other donors).
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-project portfolios and donor reporting cycles.
- Excellent Excel and financial analysis skills, including forecasting and variance review.
- Strong writing, communication, and coordination skills across diverse teams.
Things That Will Make You Stand Out
- Experience in emergency response, health systems, or humanitarian programming.
- Experience developing and implementing grant management systems or tools.
- Proven track record of improving donor reporting quality and timeliness.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams and functions.
