Lead Product Manager, AI

ABOUT RETOOL

Nearly every company in the world runs on custom software: Gartner estimates that up to 50% of all code is written for internal use. This is the operational software for refunding orders, underwriting loans, onboarding employees, analyzing transactions, and providing customer support. But most companies don’t have adequate resources to properly invest in these tools, leading to a lot of old and clunky internal software or, even worse, users still stuck in manual and spreadsheet flows.

At Retool, we’re on a mission to bring good software to everyone. We’re building a new type of development platform that combines the benefits of traditional software development with a drag-and-drop UI editor and AI, making it dramatically faster to build internal tools. We believe that the future of software development lies in abstracting away the tedious and repetitive tasks developers waste time on, while creating reusable components that act as a force multiplier for future developers and projects. The result is not just productivity, but good software by default. And that’s a mission worth striving for.

Today, our customers span from small startups building their first operational tools to Fortune 500 companies building mission-critical apps for thousands of users across their business. Interested in joining us? Let us know!

WHY WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU

Tens of thousands of customers rely on Retool to run their businesses, and our Product teams help shape the vision, create the roadmap, and ultimately build the products that make our customers successful. Retool wins when we bring good software to everyone — this means we're powerful enough to build any internal tool and also the fastest way to build them.

The ever advancing AI landscape doesn't change this goal, but it does open up completely new ways of thinking about this.

  • Human-AI hybrids: Humans today spend so much time on menial tasks – data entry, process management, going through checklists, etc. The reason why we haven’t yet automated all of these tasks is because there’s usually a small amount of human decision making that has to happen in these processes (for example, approving an insurance claim). We’re building the platform and tools that enable businesses to augment these manual processes with AI so that less time is spent on undifferentiated work and more time is spent on making the impactful decisions that matter.
  • Tailored, custom software: We believe that there is both a massive shortage in the amount of software that exists and also a gap in the quality of the software that does exist. We see this every day as we work with customers who show us legacy systems or inefficient processes driven through email and spreadsheets. Off-the-shelf solutions often aren’t flexible enough to match how businesses want to solve their problems, and there simply aren’t enough engineers to build the systems businesses want to build. Retool is the product we built to solve this problem, and AI is its turbo-charger. With AI, we can bring even more people into the product and have apps create themselves.

To build this vision, we’re investing in both the core platform of Retool, as well as AI-specific features. It's critical to ensure teams are aligned internally on how we need to expand the platform with the AI product that we’re building. We're looking for someone optimistic and passionate about the potential of AI, and excited to work at various altitudes to bring this vision to life.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

At Retool, Product Managers are highly flexible, technically-minded, and known for their readiness to pivot or tailor their efforts when necessary to deliver great products to our customers. • Collaborate cross-functionally to design, build, and launch new features and product experiences to our customers
  • Analyze our customers' needs by talking with them, a lot, interacting with go-to-market teams, and digging into product data — and communicate what you find to the rest of the business
  • Tackle problems with a systems mindset, thinking beyond individual features to how different capabilities might interact to unlock powerful possibilities
  • Help build the organizational foundations for a high-performing and growing Product team at Retool
  • Think creatively about the risks and benefits of new technologies beyond traditional checklists and playbooks

THE SKILLSET YOU'LL BRING:

  • 5+ years of product management experience at a fast-growing company, launching new products, and scaling existing ones
  • A passion for leveraging  AI to create safe and beneficial products that accelerate enterprise businesses
  • Proven effectiveness in working with engineering and design counterparts to align stakeholders and successfully ship technical enterprise products
  • Ability to navigate and execute amidst ambiguity, adapting to various domains as needed to ship large-scale projects from start to finish
  • Relentless enthusiasm for cross-organizational collaboration, adept at managing trade-offs and balancing competing priorities through effective communication
  • Experience working closely with go-to-market teams, and directly with customers to deftly mold customer insights into powerful product solutions
  • Active interest in emerging research and industry trends, staying up-to-date on Gen AI to shape strategy and engage with key stakeholders

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
