About the Role 

Rocket Lawyer is seeking a mission-driven and results-oriented Social Media and PR Manager to join our team on a part-time basis (20 hours per week).

This role will have the unique opportunity to serve as the brand custodian and social champion, driving social and communications strategy and execution that grows our audience and engagement and drives awareness of Rocket Lawyer. This role will report to the Vice President of Product Marketing and will play a pivotal role in driving our mission forward through setting the social strategy and executing the communications strategy to deliver impactful programs and initiatives that enhance our brand visibility and market presence across our critical audiences. The role will work closely across the Growth organization to ensure a consistent brand message and alignment with Rocket Lawyer’s strategic priorities. You will work with the best in the industry, and we need you to bring your creativity, imagination and energy to this high-profile position. To be successful, you’ll need to be a hands-on, strategic leader with experience developing and executing social strategy and programs that deliver business results and create a powerful, engaged community of champions. 

Responsibilities

  • Own Rocket Lawyer’s  social strategy and editorial calendars across all social media platforms s to reach and engage  our priority audiences
  • Own Rocket Lawyer’s communications strategy to drive brand awareness and credibility among our priority audiences through high-quality PR coverage in top-tier and industry specific media outlets
  • Manage day-to-day execution of social media calendar, communications initiatives, and audience engagement, from ideation to publication and community management
  • Craft copy for social media channels and PR related activities including public announcements, presentations, blog posts, white papers, and social media content, that captures the voice of Rocket Lawyer
  • Develop social plans and support communications initiatives  for major product launches, events, and initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify content and PR opportunities and execute on social campaigns
  • Work with external influencers to harness their expertise, creating and promoting content and events
  • Effectively manage relationships and investment with Rocket Lawyer’s PR agency to deliver high-impact results that amplify our key messages
  • Stay attuned to the digital pulse and monitor the social landscape to identify emerging trends, competitor activities, and upcoming innovations
  • Actively monitor news trends and make recommendations on associated media strategy
  • Report on social media performance to internal teams and partners, consistently providing recommendations, updates, and improvements based on findings

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience owning social media marketing and communications strategy for a challenger brand 
  • Deep working knowledge of social best practices across popular social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.
  • Outstanding writing skills and ability to craft compelling posts and announcements  for complex stories that resonate with diverse audiences
  • Hands-on knowledge of digital media tools – digital photography, basic Photoshop/photo editing skills, knowledge of apps commonly used for creating social content; Video creation/editing skills are a bonus
  • Experience working with a PR agency to ensure on time delivery of our communications strategy
  • Examples of work demonstrating the ability to create fun, high-quality, engaging innovative social media content and campaigns
  • Creative thinker with an innate visual aesthetic
  • Strong stakeholder management and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience balancing  as our team's needs and priorities evolve. Creative, strategic thinker with a passion for technology and innovation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • High-tech, start-up, rapid growth and/or publicly traded company experience
  • Experience in the Tech or other fast-paced industry
