Rockstar Games is seeking an HR Leader to manage our San Diego and Los Angeles studios. This role will be a key component to our global initiatives as a member of our HR leadership team while managing a team of HR professionals.
This is an amazing opportunity to continue your career as an HR leader while overseeing all facets of the HR function. The ideal candidate will have a solid grounding in California labor law, and will have the ability to conceptualize, plan, and implement new projects and programs for the studio in alignment with our global HR vision and strategy.
This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar’s new state-of-the-art game development studio in Carlsbad, CA.
WHAT WE DO
- The Rockstar Games HR Team is responsible for empowering our employees to reach their greatest potential to create the ground-breaking games we’re known for.
- We partner with company leadership to drive proactive strategies of engagement, wellbeing, operations, and learning & organizational development.
- We collaborate with our global HR Partners to develop new initiatives and programs to bring out the best in our teams and the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with senior studio leadership to deliver complete and cohesive HR processes, programs and initiatives.
- Establish solid working relationships with department leaders to advise, coach, and support managers on employee relations and performance issues.
- Oversee risk management considerations such as compliance with FLSA, general employment law, Workers’ Comp, and other HR-related regulatory requirements.
- Work with our business development and legal departments to ensure that consultant arrangements comply with current policies and processes.
- Partner with multiple stakeholders across the operational spectrum including payroll, compensation, benefits, leaves, immigration, and legal.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for studio HR while leveraging our internal COEs for HR systems, processes, and policies with focus on continuous improvement efforts to identify efficiencies and continue to align with all other Rockstar studios.
- Lead and manage annual initiatives such as performance reviews, compensation reviews, and talent management.
- Manage a team of HR professionals to ensure they work effectively while supporting them in achieving their objectives and career goals.
- Work closely with functions such as Admin, Workplace Services, and IT teams in the day-to-day operations of the studio, maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 10+ years in HR with a requirement of 5 years in a HR leadership role leading a team.
- Seasoned experience as an HR Business Partner.
- Excellent understanding of current California employment legislation and best practice.
- Capable of working autonomously, prioritizing your own work, understanding when and where to seek guidance and approval, while managing an HR team.
- Ability to effectively drive Rockstar initiatives and maintain an excellent working relationship with other Rockstar studios – both locally and globally.
- Adaptable and confident dealing with various stakeholders of all levels.
- Experience developing strategic roadmaps to articulate a vision all the way down to execution both on a local and global level.
- Bachelor’s Degree in an HR-related discipline or similar preferred.

- Confidentiality, diplomacy, and commitment to the needs of Rockstar employees are essential.
- Highly flexible, organized, and approachable with an intrinsic sense of taking initiative and always thinking steps ahead.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel), communication tools and HR systems.

- Global HR experience with large matrix environments.

The pay range for this position in San Diego at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

$141,400 - $198,000 USD
