MongoDB Administrator: Database Operations

Rockstar is looking for a MongoDB DBA who possesses a passion for monitoring, alerting, and tuning.
This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar’s new state-of-the-art game development studio in Carlsbad, CA.
WHAT WE DO
- The Rockstar Database Services team provides operational and development support for critical platforms and services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, configure, and maintain MongoDB instances.
- Monitor database health and performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks proactively.
- Perform regular backups, ensure data integrity, and manage disaster recovery strategies.
- Enforce database security policies, including managing roles, authentication, and access controls.
- Collaborate with development teams to design, implement, and optimize database schemas and queries.
- Create and maintain clear documentation on configurations, processes, and best practices.
- Troubleshoot database-related issues, perform root cause analysis, and deliver timely solutions.
- Stay current with MongoDB best practices and apply them to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4 years of hands-on experience as a MongoDB DBA or in a similar database administration role.
- Solid understanding of MongoDB internals, replica sets, sharding, and deployment strategies.
- Experience with backup and recovery processes, including point-in-time restore.
- Familiarity with implementing and managing MongoDB security measures.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for performance optimization.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work calmly in high pressure situations and manage multiple ongoing projects.

The pay range for this position in San Diego at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

$89,500 - $134,300 USD
