About the Role

ROLLER is seeking a commercially-minded Senior Legal Counsel to join our lean, high-performing Corporate Development & Legal team. This is not a traditional in-house legal role. As ROLLER’s first full time lawyer, you’ll be a strategic partner to the business—building legal systems, processes, and precedents to support our global growth.  You will combine strong legal capability with an AI-builder mindset and a deep commercial understanding of SaaS and fintech businesses.

This role is perfect for a lawyer who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and wants to be embedded in the commercial and product fabric of the business. You will be deeply involved in go-to-market execution, enterprise deal-making, product compliance, and scaling legal operations through automation and generative AI tools.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Development, you’ll work closely with stakeholders across Sales, Product, InfoSec, and the broader Senior Leadership Team. You will be empowered to think like a builder and have real impact, not just as a legal advisor but as a strategic contributor to the business

What You'll Do

Contract Lifecycle Management

  • Draft, review, update and manage ROLLER’s legal precedent library, including MSAs, Master Terms, SaaS Order Forms, NDAs and partner agreements.
  • Ensure contracts are scalable, easy to use, and aligned to ROLLER's risk profile and go-to-market strategy.

Sales & Commercial Support

  • Support Sales to negotiate and close enterprise SaaS agreements, including on customer paper.
  • Design and implement a system – using generative AI tools – to streamline Sales’ negotiation of SMB and mid-market deals with minimal legal intervention.

Product & Regulatory Compliance

  • Partner with Product to ensure ROLLER’s features and practices meet data, consumer, financial services and competition laws, including drafting and settling product compliance advices
  • Collaborate with InfoSec on privacy, security and open-source compliance, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.

Legal Systems & Automation

  • Build scalable legal and compliance systems leveraging generative AI and modern tooling.
  • Help establish a proactive compliance update monitoring framework for the Product and InfoSec teams across multiple regulatory domains.

General Legal Support & Strategic Projects

  • Provide the Senior Leadership Team with advice on ad hoc legal matters and manage external counsel as needed (including for M&A, litigation, employment law, and vendor procurement).
  • Lean into cross-functional strategic initiatives, bringing a legal lens to wider business goals.

About You

  • Admitted to practice law in Australia, the U.S., or the UK.
  • 7+ years legal experience, including:
  • Demonstrated interest in building legal systems, particularly the application of AI to legal workflow.
  • Experience negotiating and drafting complex B2B SaaS agreements.
  • Working knowledge of global data privacy regimes (GDPR, CCPA), financial services compliance, and technology regulation.
  • Experience managing external counsel and delivering to executive stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of how to balance legal risk and commercial priorities.
  • First principles thinker – not afraid to challenge the status quo and build systems from scratch
  • Builder mindset – thrives in ambiguity, enjoys creating structure and scalable solutions
  • Technically sound, commercially savvy – can simplify complexity and help the business move faster
  • High EQ communicator – able to clearly convey legal positions to non-legal stakeholders and influence decisions
  • Curious and future-facing – excited by the potential of legal tech, AI, and automation
  • Team player – collaborative, low-ego and energised by supporting a small, high-impact team
  • Bias for action – brings urgency, focus and follow-through to every project
  • Willing to wear many hats – ready to step outside traditional legal lanes to support strategic growth

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
