The Role 

We are seeking a highly qualified Data Analyst to work in our Business Analytics team in the New York office. The Business Analytics team at Schonfeld focuses on performance and portfolio analytics across the firm. The team is responsible for data acquisition, processing and reporting to inform investment and non-investment business leaders in the organization. You will work closely with a range of teams in the firm including risk, trading, accounting, operations, investor relations, business development, and the executive committee. This role requires someone with strong analytical skills who is comfortable partnering with stakeholders across multiple functional areas.

What you’ll do 

In this role, you will help produce meaningful business and portfolio analytics using tools such as Python, SQL, and Power BI to transform and analyze data. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to solve problems and create a positive impact on the team by improving data quality, streamlining manual processes, building reports, proposing analytics, and supporting our reporting infrastructure.

What you’ll bring

What you need:

  • A Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or related field.
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Strong dashboarding and data visualization skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Ability to breakdown and communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of hedge funds and hedge fund trading strategies.

We’d love it if you had:

  • Experience with Linux operating systems and knowledge of cloud computing platforms.
  • Experience with web development and web scraping.
  • Experience building end-to-end ETL pipelines for large datasets.
  • Experience analyzing a wide range of asset classes (Equities, Futures, Options, FX, Bonds, Swaps, Credit).
  • Strong understanding of foundational finance and accounting concepts.

The base pay for this role is expected to be between $150,000 and $175,000. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance bonus and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience
