Operations Risk, Associate

London, England, United Kingdom

The Role

This is a hybrid role with two core areas of focus. The first is ownership of daily MAS regulatory reporting submissions and the timely resolution of reporting exceptions. This covers ensuring the accuracy and completeness of submissions, investigating the root causes of recurring issues, and continuously strengthening data quality, controls, and the wider reporting framework, working closely with Technology and stakeholders across the business.

The second is operational risk oversight: reviewing key operational risk processes and leading the development of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for each functional team across Global Operations.

What you’ll do

  • Own the preparation and submission of daily MAS trade reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform pre-submission data quality checks to identify and address issues before reporting.
  • Track submissions through regulatory acceptance.
  • Investigate and resolve reporting breaks and rejections, including quantity breaks, UPI errors, and pairing exceptions.
  • Remediate rejected submissions and ensure corrected reports are successfully resubmitted.
  • Partner with Technology to escalate and resolve system and data issues.
  • Prioritise effectively during periods of high exception volumes.
  • Identify recurring issues and drive improvements to processes, controls, and automation.
  • Maintain clear, up-to-date procedures and process documentation.

What you’ll bring
What you need:

  • Experience in regulatory trade or transaction reporting, ideally covering MAS, or a similar regime such as EMIR, ASIC, or CFTC.
  • Strong product knowledge across asset classes, including OTC derivatives, with a clear understanding of the trade lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with key reporting data such as UPI, UTI, and LEI, and with reconciliation and pairing/matching concepts.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to investigate breaks methodically to find the root cause.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under daily time pressure.
  • A collaborative approach to working with Technology and wider stakeholders, bringing well-informed insight to the resolution of complex issues.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.

 We’d love if you had:

  • Hands-on experience with a trade reporting platform (e.g., S&P Global Cappitech, DTCC GTR, Kaizen, Regis-TR).
  • Experience using APIs or internal reporting tools.
  • SQL, Python, or other scripting skills to support investigation and automation.
  • Experience improving or automating operational processes.
  • Experience supporting reporting across multiple jurisdictions or time zones.
