Semiconductor Facilities & Equipment Engineer

We are looking for a motivated Semiconductor Facilities & Equipment Engineer with extensive experience in the semiconductor industry to help manage the technical aspects of our MEMS Foundry facility expansion. This individual will support tool acquisition, installation, and function for a variety of semiconductor processes in Class 100 and Class 1000 cleanrooms and will be integral to the design and implementation of our new modular fabrication facility. Project management experience is preferred, as responsibilities will include coordination of preventive maintenance, tool upgrades, tool repairs, and equipment installation across multiple sites. The position will interface closely with leadership, engineering, and process technician teams to identify and resolve tool problems quickly. The ideal candidate will have a broad background in maintenance, installation, and repair of semiconductor processing equipment, enjoy being hands-on in the cleanroom, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Role responsibilities:
- Lead a small team of equipment engineers to effectively prioritize and field all equipment-related needs
- Manage semiconductor equipment procurement, installation, and maintenance.
- Complete basic facilities installations, including vacuum lines, process gases piping, process cooling water, vacuum pump & chiller hook-ups
- Coordinate with subcontractors on more complex installations, including air handling systems, exhaust infrastructure, electrical, toxic gas monitoring systems, acid waste neutralization systems, and more.
- Troubleshoot and repair a variety of electrical and electronic systems, including motor control systems, contactors, starters, AC/DC drives and motors, various control switches and proximity sensors utilized on production machinery.
- Interpret electrical schematics and flow charts.
- Place orders through procurement for spare parts and replacement parts, and complete all required documentation.
- Support and participate in the organization’s Continuous Improvement Program to meet ISO 9001:2015 requirements by adhering to the Quality Policy and procedures and meeting QMS objectives.
- Ensure compliance of all Company policies and OSHA rules while conducting work functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Key qualifications:
- Familiarity and experience with semiconductor equipment for photolithography, RIE, thin-film deposition, LPCVD/diffusion, electroplating, and more.
- Exceptional problem solving ability and deep technical knowledge.
- Extensive mechanical and electrical experience.
- A self-starter who develops innovative and efficient ways to accomplish tasks.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related field), with 5 to 10 years experience in MEMS/semiconductor/process engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with facilities infrastructure, including HVAC, process cooling water, electrical, etc.
- Exposure to a production cleanroom environment.
- Experience working in an ISO 9001:2015 environment.
