What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Work with stakeholders, including designers, software engineering teams, IT architects, and business units to understand product requirements and develop security strategies that meet their needs.
  • Lead threat modeling and risk assessments to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities in software, systems and architecture.
  • Work with vehicle engineers to ensure the safety and availability of connected vehicle systems.
  • Design and develop security architectures, frameworks, and roadmaps to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data.
  • Lead and develop secure SDLC program for Scout Motors developers.
  • Implement and manage security controls, code checks, intrusion detection systems, encryption technologies, and access controls, to protect against unauthorized access and data breaches.
  • Lead security reviews and security assurance program to ensure controls are configured and operating appropriately.
  • Stay up to date with the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously enhance the organization's security posture.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to IT teams regarding security-related issues and initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver secure coding and security awareness trainings to enhance employees' understanding of security best practices.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan; Columbia, South Carolina; or Fremont, California. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of solid experience in designing and implementing security solutions in complex enterprise environments.
  • 5+ years in vehicle security experience with vehicle software systems is desired.
  • Experience working with product security operations centers is required, vehicle security operations is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of security principles, best practices, technologies, and frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of network and system security, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption technologies.
  • Proficiency in security assessment and auditing tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as ISO 27001, ISO 24134, NIST, TISAX, GDPR, or HIPAA.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex security issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant certifications, such as CISSP and CISM, are highly desirable.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range Fremont, CA = $170,000-$205,000

Initial base salary range Novi, MI = $165,000-$185,000

Initial base salary range Columbia, SC = $160,000-$175,000
