About Sezzle:

With a mission to financially empower the next generation, Sezzle is revolutionizing the shopping experience beyond payments, blending cutting-edge tech with seamless, interest-free installment plans that make shopping smarter and more accessible. We’re not just transforming payments; we’re redefining how people discover, interact with, and purchase the things they love while driving real impact on merchant sales through increased conversions and higher order values. As we continue to shape the future of fintech and retail, we’re building an innovative, dynamic team passionate about creating more than just a transaction but a truly unique shopping journey. If you’re excited about pushing boundaries in tech and delivering a game-changing experience for consumers and merchants alike, come join us at Sezzle and help create the future of shopping!

Why this role exists

Sezzle’s products are scaling fast—no longer just your traditional BNPL but also subscriptions, shopping tools, and rewards. We’re looking for a leader who designs with urgency, balances vision with execution, and leverages AI/ML tools to elevate user experiences. If you can steer a Material-UI-based design system, mentor a high-caliber team, and prototype with Gen-AI to cut time-to-market, then Sezzle is for you.

Compensation

The compensation range for the role is $120,000 - $150,000 USD per year. Our ranges are very broad to accommodate all types of candidates and encourage growth. Specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on factors such as education, experience, qualifications, and alignment with market data.

The impact you’ll have

  • Set the product design vision across our native app and web and convert it into shippable roadmaps, OKRs, and ruthless prioritization.
Make “speed to learning” our default—shorten the loop from concept → prototype → data → production → iterate → repeat
Establish AI/ML-powered design tactics (Figma Make, Midjourney, and other LLM tools) that 10× concept throughput without sacrificing quality or compliance.
  • What You'll Do:

Strategy & Outcomes

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Data to align design priorities with quarterly OKRs—then lead your team in delivering experiences that help us achieve the goals.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Creative Director to ensure brand and interaction consistency across every shopper touchpoint.
  • Own and evolve our design system in Figma (tokens, accessibility, motion), aligned to Material UI and Sezzle brand.
  • Build decision frameworks that balance conversion, accessibility, and regulatory constraints (lending, cards, payments).
  • Drive governance, contribution, and adoption across web (MUI/React/Next.js) and React Native apps.
  • Identify opportunities for elevating icons, illustrations, and micro-interactions throughout the Sezzle experience.
  • Operationalize AI in workflows:
    • Rapid prototyping with tools like Figma Make, Midjourney or equivalent; LLM-assisted user-flows and microcopy.
    • Auto-generate design variants; cluster user feedback; synthesize research signals.
    • Build prompt/playbooks and CI checks to keep content on-brand and accessible.

Team & Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 3-4 product designers; recruit and develop future talent
  • Create a culture of critique, speed, and accountability; make quality measurable.
  • Tell compelling stories to stakeholders —moving from designs to impact with clarity.

You’ll excel if you have:

  • 10+ years in product/UX design, including 3+ years leading senior ICs and/or managers.
  • A portfolio of high-volume consumer fintech, e-commerce, or subscription products with measurable outcomes.
  • Deep fluency in graphic design principles (layout, typography, motion, brand systems).
  • Real-world experience using AI-assisted design/research tools (e.g., Figma plugins, image/video generation).
  • Proven delivery and maintenance of a multi-platform design system (web + native).
  • Comfort interpreting data and experiment results to inform design decisions.
  • Exceptional communication that connects design decisions to business impact.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in lending, card issuing, or payments (and the compliance that comes with it).
  • Familiarity with React Native handoff nuances.
  • Public speaking or published thought-leadership.
  • Comfort with Lottie/After Effects for motion specs.

About You:

  • You have relentlessly high standards - many people may think your standards are unreasonably high. You are continually raising the bar and driving those around you to deliver great results. You make sure that defects do not get sent down the line and that problems are fixed so they stay fixed.
  • You’re not bound by convention - your success—and much of the fun—lies in developing new ways to do things
  • You need action - speed matters in business. Many decisions and actions are reversible and do not need extensive study. We value calculated risk-taking.
  • You earn trust - you listen attentively, speak candidly, and treat others respectfully.
  • You have backbone; disagree, then commit - you can respectfully challenge decisions when you disagree, even when doing so is uncomfortable or exhausting. You have conviction and are tenacious. You do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion. Once a decision is determined, you commit wholly.
  • You deliver results - you focus on the key inputs and deliver them with the right quality and in a timely fashion. Despite setbacks, you rise to the occasion and never settle.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
