Finance Director / Assistant Controller EMEA (Controllership, SOX, OPEX & Inventory)

Leeds / Hybrid - 3 days per week from our office

About the Role

SharkNinja doesn't do ordinary — and neither does this role. As Finance Director, Assistant Controller EMEA, you'll be the technical and operational backbone of financial controllership across the region, reporting to the Senior Finance Director EMEA. This isn't a maintenance job. You'll be driving material weakness remediation, hardening the SOX control environment, and holding the line on US GAAP compliance — all while supporting one of the fastest-scaling consumer products companies on the planet.

You'll need to move fast, think clearly under pressure, and pivot without losing grip on what matters: accurate numbers, clean controls, and a finance team that operates at the pace of the business.

What You'll Own

US GAAP & Technical Accounting

  • Be the region's authority on US GAAP. When the business has a question on revenue recognition, inventory valuation, OPEX classification, or lease accounting — you have the answer.
  • Ensure all EMEA entities maintain records in compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and applicable local GAAP, with no ambiguity on policy application.
  • Flag and escalate emerging technical accounting issues before they become audit findings.

Controls, SOX & Remediation

  • Lead end-to-end SOX compliance across EMEA legal entities — design, monitoring, testing, and remediation. If a control gap exists, you find it and fix it.
  • Drive active remediation of identified control deficiencies, including material weaknesses, with clear action plans, accountable owners, and deadlines that stick.
  • Own balance sheet integrity across all EMEA entities — reviews, reconciliations, and sign-off are yours.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors as a peer, not a passenger — anticipate issues, resolve them fast, and document everything to standard.

Financial Reporting

  • Deliver timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles across all EMEA legal entities — with insightful commentary that tells the story behind the numbers, not just the numbers.
  • Lead Financial Controller review and oversight across the EMEA entity portfolio.

Leadership & Transformation

  • Lead a team of ~20 across Inventory and OPEX — set the standard, develop the talent, and build a team that's outrageously extraordinary in how they show up every day.
  • Drive process standardization, automation, and scalability initiatives that match SharkNinja's growth trajectory. Create processes that can scale with SharkNinja’s growth trajectory and international expansion plans.
  • Partner cross-functionally — sales, ops, IT, Finance Operations, Deductions, GTN — to connect the dots and drive end-to-end efficiency.
  • Provide senior leadership coverage and actively shape a "One Global Finance Team" culture across EMEA.

What You Bring

  • 12+ years in controllership, audit, or financial reporting in a multinational environment — with direct, hands-on experience remediating control deficiencies and navigating SOX audits.
  • Deep US GAAP expertise is non-negotiable. IFRS and multi-country local GAAP fluency a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to lead in fast-moving, high-growth environments — consumer products, or retail experience strongly preferred.
  • ERP fluency (Oracle preferred) and AI forward thinking; comfortable driving automation and working alongside IT and system vendors.
  • A communicator who can translate technical accounting complexity for non-finance audiences without losing precision.
  • You don't wait to be told there's a problem. You're already working on the solution.

Education & Certifications

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification required.
