Senior Applied Research Engineer – Needham, MA

We're looking for a Senior Applied Research Engineer to join our New Product Development team and help push the boundaries of what consumer products can do.
What You'll Do
- Lead hands-on design and development of consumer products from concept through launch and support
- Work daily with cross-functional engineering and product teams to understand system performance and tradeoffs
- Drive brainstorming sessions, build proof-of-concept prototypes, and run rigorous tests
- Mentor mechanical engineers, co-ops, and interns
- See your work come to life — in stores, online, and in homes around the world
What You Bring
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of product design and development experience
- Strong intuition for physics and engineering fundamentals — equally at home running an experiment as reviewing data
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or CREO; comfort with Excel, Minitab, or MATLAB for data analysis
- Hands-on prototyping skills: 3D printing, machining, hand tools, and clean assembly work
- Experience designing and executing controlled experiments in a lab setting
- Clear communicator who can translate technical findings for any audience
Bonus Points
- Background at a consumer product or consulting firm
- Experience with electronics, sensors, motors, heaters, or PCBAs
- Proven ability to juggle multiple projects without losing sight of long-term goals

This is a full-time, in-person role at our Needham, MA office.
Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is displayed below. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

$85,000 - $145,000 USD
