Our ideal candidate is an eager and hard-working retail expert that knows how to lead the day-to-day retail ops and activation while fostering positive internal and external relationships to drive mutually beneficial brand objectives and growth. The right candidate has a proven track record in managing internal and external retailer resources to bring the digital and physical shelf to life, including retail set-ups, online content creation and marketing to help support sales. Working closely with retailer partners, including digital merchandising teams and buyers, the Retail Account Specialist will drive programs to win across retailers. S/he will have worked in a multi-faceted, fast-paced environment, where s/he excelled at bringing a brand to life. As a strong cross-functional leader, s/he will find working with multiple teams exciting and understand how to navigate the complexities that can be associated with big working groups.
Who you are:
You know how to put the pieces together to build “best-in-class” retail plans – whether it’s ensuring an account is ready to sell a product, or building A+ content, videos, reviews and PDP content, your network knows you are the go-to for best-in-class retail support.
- You know how to be accountable for the customer experience and conversion in the retail ecosystem
- You excel at cross functional collaboration and project management, ensuring content deadlines and requirements are met.
- You are well versed in ongoing maintenance of catalog and PDPs including optimizing product titles, descriptions, images, video and enhanced content
- You have strong familiarity with US and Canadian retailers such as Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Home Depot, Ulta and Sephora
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment, with the strong ability to pivot priorities as needed while continuing to push projects forward
What you’ll do:
- Item setup: Own new item setup end to end across the NA retailer portfolio — gather and validate product information, complete retailer setup and digital content forms, submit through retailer item systems and vendor portals.
- Visual content: Route and manage gallery imagery, lifestyle photography, video, A+ / enhanced content modules and comparison charts — partnering with Creative and Brand on requests, reviewing against retailer specs, and confirming correct placement once live.
- Data quality: Run QA on every SKU before it ships to a retailer, escalating discrepancies to Product Development or Brand Marketing for alignment
- Compliance: Manage regulatory and compliance content requirements — substantiated claims, required legal and safety language, battery and hazmat documentation, certificates of compliance and retailer-specific supplier forms — in partnership with Legal and Quality.
- Brand Stores: Create & maintain brand stores for key retailers, collaborating with brand marketing, sales and creative on messaging & design.
- Content health: Monitor & improve content quality across retailers using scorecards, content-health dashboards and regular site scrubs.
- Search: Ensure copy is optimized for retailer search, SEO and AI-driven discovery — keyword research, backend search terms, structured attributes and question-and-answer content
- Project management: Act as primary project manager to support content readiness for product launches, working collaboratively with brand, sales and creative.
- Insight: Monitor ratings, reviews and consumer Q&A for content-driven issues and feed themes back into PDP copy, analyze competitive and complementary products for trends and gaps, and report on content performance — traffic, conversion, search rank, content health.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or similar, and 2+ years of retail, CPG, wholesale or DTC experience with meaningful time spent directly on ecommerce content or product data.
- Hands-on experience with retailer vendor portals and item setup systems, and with PIM/DAM or product content management platforms and syndication tools.
- Demonstrated ownership of new item setup at scale — you have personally taken SKUs from setup form to live PDP across multiple retailers.
- Strong ecommerce experience and familiarity with retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Costco, Sam’s Club, Home Depot and Ulta, amongst others.
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large product data files, bulk upload templates and flat files.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and throughout levels of the organization with ease, managing multiple projects in parallel across a complex matrix.
- Ability to influence cross-functionally and creatively problem-solve when retailer requirements and internal timelines conflict, with exceptional attention to detail and clear communication.
