BACK UP PACKER TRAINER

NIGHT SHIFT 12AM TO 8AM 

$20.75 + $3 Shift Premium

  • The Back Up Packer Trainer will train new team members on the task of packing which includes assembling boxes, packing bagged product from the packaging tables into the cases and placing them on pallets, inspecting finished product, quality and safety procedures and other duties as assigned. The Back Up Packer Trainer may also be asked to gather/edit documents, assemble training manuals, and evaluate candidates and document trainees’ progress. The Packer Trainer is part of the packaging production team, as such will pack when no new team members are in training. This Back Up Packer Trainer is expected to keep their work area clean at all times at a level consistent with the high standards of food manufacturing. As a Back Up Packer Trainer you will be utilized as needed to fill in for full time Packer Trainers. 

  What you bring to the party:

    • Attendance – This is a skilled position that requires the team member be reliable on a constant basis. Team Members will be evaluated on a case by case basis prior to selection.
    • Safety Mindset – Create a safety and health workplace; make Safety & Wellness a priority.
    • Language Skills – Must be able to read, understand and effectively present technical information; one-on-one or in small groups. This person will be required to teach. Must also be able to communicate issues with trainees to supervision and HR if necessary.
    • Mathematical Skills – Must be able to do simple math, conversions (mm – in., g-oz), and use formulas to compute running rates.
    • Leadership – The trainer must be honest, dependable, punctual, and trustworthy. They must have a positive attitude and the ability to guide new team members by teaching them the procedures and policies of Shearers Snacks. They must display the ability to make decisions on the floor if needed with little input and communicate back to supervision as to why changes were made. The Packer Trainer must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
    • Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems in common operating situations.
    • Computer Skills – Must have basic computer skills required to run production, as well as effectively instruct others on our computer systems and software. Will need to have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Time Management – Will have to effectively manage his/her own time as well as the time of trainees to properly use training time allotted.
    • Flexibility: Must be available for pre-shift meetings when applicable and able to work weekends, varied schedules, overtime and holidays when needed.
    • Physical Demands: The team member is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The team member must regularly lift and /or move up to 25+ pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25+ pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. Team Members must be able to be on their feet for eight (8+) hours, to keep up with a fast, repetitious pace and to do repetitious lifting.
