THE OPPORTUNITY

Silvus is seeking a Senior R&D Director, Electronic Warfare to join the Research & Development department, reporting to the Vice President of Research & Development. This position is eligible for 100% remote work depending on location.

This position has both internally and externally focused responsibilities and is critical to the company’s success as a provider of multi antenna (MIMO), advanced mesh networking, resilient wireless communications, and RF sensing technologies to both government and commercial markets. The Senior R&D Director, Electronic Warfare position is particularly focused on identifying opportunities, developing plans, and executing on technical development particularly in the emerging area of Distributed Electronic Warfare for the company. This is an ideal position for an entrepreneurial minded individual who wants to experience first-hand, the excitement of introducing new capabilities in critical applications where no current solutions exist.

The Senior R&D Director, Electronic Warfare is expected to:

  • Lead and increase the level of government engagement (funding, collaboration, and experimentation) in the area of Electronic Warfare, e.g. electronic support, attack, deception, particularly utilizing heterogeneous distributed platforms.
  • Oversee the relevant technology roadmap definition and execution under the direction of the Vice President of Research & Development.
  • Deliver prototype capabilities to the engineering and product teams, continuing to support the maturation and fielding of technologies.
  • Positively impact the company’s IP portfolio as well as the company’s revenue and profitability.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Silvus management team, particularly the Vice Presidents of R&D, Engineering, and Products to identify technical development priorities and roadmaps and to determine execution schedules and budgets.
  • Lead outreach efforts to government organizations, existing and potential customers, and candidate technology partners to refine, support, and fill the gaps within the technology roadmap.
  • Lead RFI responses, white paper and proposal development, where applicable.
  • Provide technical oversight and participate in business development activities such as experiments, demonstration events, and customer meetings.
  • Work with the Silvus recruiting team to grow, manage, and mentor a diversified engineering work force as part of business development (BD) and program execution efforts within the Electronic Warfare space.
  • Lead the engineering efforts required to deliver on the technology roadmap and schedule, acting as the principal investigator and program manager while the team and technology matures.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct supervisory responsibilities over multiple future team members in the areas of engineering, business development, program management, and program/project administration.
  • Travel requirements: Frequent travel for meetings, events, and demonstrations. Travel to the LA office as needed to ensure alignment and efficient operation within the overall team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant industry design and execution experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Electronic Warfare, RF sensing and signal analysis.
  • Working knowledge of RF signal propagation, channel modeling, digital communications, RF sensing, signal analysis, machine learning, and/or associated signal processing technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with customer engagement with a focus on the government sector.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
  • US Government clearance at SECRET level; OR the ability to obtain a SECRET US Government security clearance within 12 months of start date.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Leadership and team building experience.
  • Fluency in technical presentations, proposal writing, and technical reporting.
  • Working knowledge of simulation tools such as Matlab and C.
  • Successful track record for delivering differentiated technology.
  • Knowledge of MIMO systems and mesh networking.
  • Knowledge of electronic attack and electronic deception techniques.

COMPENSATION

The pay range is NOT a guarantee. It is based on market research and peer data, and will vary depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

CA Pay Range

$220,000 - $290,000 USD

NOTE - As a U.S. Federal Contractor, Silvus Technologies requires that ALL candidates being considered for employment for any position (regardless of level) MUST be a U.S. Person (permanent resident or citizen).  Stricter U.S. Citizen ONLY requirements are needed for some Engineering or R&D roles. This generally does NOT apply to International positions; only job postings for positions located in the U.S. Exceptions will be included in the Required Qualifications section of the posted position.
