HR Business Partner and Generalist – India & APAC

About the Role

The HR Business Partner and Generalist provides day-to-day HR support for SingleStore employees across India and APAC, acting as a primary point of contact for employees and managers. This role owns core HR operations for the region, including onboarding, employee relations, benefits and payroll coordination, HR systems, and local compliance, in close partnership with global HR, Finance/Payroll, Talent Acquisition, and Legal.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Experience & Relations

  • Serve as the main HR contact for India/APAC employees and managers, providing guidance on policies, processes, and programs.

  • Support and, where appropriate, lead employee relations matters (coaching managers, handling concerns, facilitating conflict resolution), escalating complex issues as needed.

  • Partner with global HR on engagement and retention initiatives and provide regional insights.

Onboarding, Offboarding & HR Operations

  • Own the onboarding experience for India and APAC (pre-hire documentation, Day 1 orientation, systems access coordination, 30/60/90-day touchpoints).

  • Coordinate compliant and well-documented offboarding, including exit interviews, final inputs to payroll, and systems/access changes.

  • Maintain accurate, compliant employee records in HRIS and local systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.

Payroll, Benefits, Systems & Compliance

  • Coordinate monthly payroll inputs for India and applicable APAC locations (hires, exits, changes, variable pay, leave, benefits updates) with Payroll and Finance.

  • Support benefits administration (enrolments, changes, vendor coordination, employee queries) and help ensure offerings remain competitive in local markets.

  • Use HR tools (including ADP and GreytHR, where applicable) for data management and routine HR reporting.

  • Support compliance with Indian labour laws and relevant APAC regulations; help maintain local policies/handbooks and assist with audits and internal reviews.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of progressive HR experience in a similar HR Generalist or HR Operations role, preferably in global tech/SaaS or other high-growth environments.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build trust and partner effectively with employees and managers across levels and functions.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Hands-on experience with HR and payroll systems; prior experience with ADP and GreytHR is strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Indian labour and employment laws and HR compliance requirements; comfortable collaborating with external vendors and advisors.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting core HR processes, including onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll coordination, and HR records.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting remote or distributed teams across multiple time zones.

  • Prior experience in a multinational or matrixed organization partnering with global HR and Payroll teams.

  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR, or an India-focused HR credential).

  • Experience using HR analytics or reporting (e.g., turnover, headcount, engagement, or leave trends) to inform recommendations.
