We are interested in hiring an effective team member who will actively engage with our administrative and engineering teams and work closely with other IT staff to design and implement systems and solutions. The candidate will join a team of fellow Information Technology professionals and specialists.

 

Required Skills: We are looking for candidates who have experience in at least three of the following areas and who are willing to learn and develop skills in all of these areas.

  • Linux administration including all aspects of deployment, maintenance, and configuration of multiple distributions.
  • Virtualization and containers, especially ProxMox VE, and docker.
  • Familiarity with encryption and PKI concepts and tools including PGP email integration, step-ca deployment, and full disk encryption.
  • Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory services including user and group management, DNS and DHCP, GPO, and WSUS.
  • Microsoft Windows 10 and 11 and MacOS end-user system setup, maintenance, and support.
  • Scripting and IT automation including bash, python, and/or powershell.
  • Network management and configuration including VLAN, VPN, SSH tunneling, iptables-based firewalls, linux-based routing, and wifi and ethernet hardware setup.
  • Hardware, OS, and software diagnostics, repair, and maintenance for end-user and server systems and small business networking.

Position Overview: The candidate will join a seasoned team of fellow Information Technology Specialists.  Our team interfaces across all divisions of SIXGEN.  We are looking for someone with the following non-technical skills.

  • Ability to leverage a wide-range of technical skills to design, deploy, and support engineering, development, and corporate IT environments.
  • Ability to offer creative technical solutions to unique problems.
  • Willingness to respond to quickly emerging technical requirements and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, and customers and function in a diverse team.
  • Desire and ability to constantly learn and develop new technical skills.
  • Focus on providing solutions and facilitating other team members’ productivity.
  • Ability to adapt to flexible job responsibilities and work schedules.
  • Available for periodic after hours maintenance as well as 24/7 response to emergency situations such as power outages and equipment failures.
  • Due to the nature of this position, applicants must be able to lift objects up to 30 pounds.
