Skylo’s direct-to-device service is now live on millions of activated devices across five continents, with more than 60 million square kilometers of coverage, in partnership with multiple satellite operators, mobile network operators (MNOs), Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs. Devices connected over satellite are managed and served by Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN, featuring a 3GPP standards-based cloud-native base station and core. Skylo provides anywhere, anytime connectivity solution that seamlessly roams between terrestrial and satellite networks. Our focus is on enabling connected services for people outdoors and connected workflows across three main verticals: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT.

This role is located Mountain View, CA where we are onsite 3 days a week in office. 

How You Will Contribute 

Responsibilities within this role encompass a wide range of technical and collaborative tasks, including:

  1. End-to-End Device Commercialization & Support
    • Device Design & Architecture Consulting: Act as the primary technical advisor for partners from the initial concept phase. Proactively guide OEMs and chipset manufacturers on critical design choices, including antenna selection, power budget management, and hardware component selection to ensure the device is optimized for satellite network performance and commercial viability.
    • Integration Support & Troubleshooting: Provide deep, hands-on technical support throughout the development lifecycle. Guide partner engineering teams in developing &  integrating firmware and software, troubleshoot complex issues by analyzing device logs, and provide expert guidance on NAS (Non-Access Stratum) layer signaling and protocol behavior to resolve integration challenges swiftly.
    • Onboarding to the Commercial Network: Lead the final phase of bringing a device to market. Oversee the creation and deployment of SIM profiles and ensure each device can be successfully activated, provisioned, and monitored on the live Skylo commercial network.
  1. Partner Enablement & Technical Integration
    • OEM & Chipset Collaboration: Forge strong technical partnerships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs),Device and module makers. Provide expert guidance on hardware integration and software development, leveraging a deep understanding of NAS layer signaling and satellite network architecture to ensure seamless device operation on the Skylo Network.
    • Pre-Certification & Validation : Act as the primary technical liaison to drive the development and support cycles with manufacturers to ensure their products meet network requirements efficiently.
  1. Program Management & Strategic Leadership
    • Process Standardization: Architect and implement standardized processes for critical operations, including device onboarding, SIM provisioning, and network visibility. Develop clear guidelines, documentation, and tools to streamline partner integration and enhance operational efficiency.
    • Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as a key technical authority who excels at cross-functional collaboration, working seamlessly with Product & Engineering,Translate complex satellite and cellular (NAS) concepts into actionable requirements and clear external communication.
  1. Customer Empowerment & Continuous Improvement
    • Self-Service Enablement: Drive the development of self-service tools and resources (e.g., knowledge bases, diagnostic utilities) to empower partners and customers.
    • Feedback Integration: Actively establish and manage channels for collecting partner feedback, ensuring their insights are systematically incorporated into product and service enhancements.

What We Look For 

  • 7-10 years of experience in Telecommunication/Chipset/Module industry
  • Cellular Protocol & Call Flow Analysis : In-depth expertise in LTE, VoLTE, NAS, and SMS call flows with a proven ability to perform detailed analysis of PCAP traces for troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Core Network & Virtualization:Hands-on experience with key network elements, including virtualized/Open RAN (vRAN/ORAN), Evolved Packet Core (EPC) / 5G Core, and packet/signal gateways.
  • Networking Protocols:Strong command of foundational networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, and ICMP.
  • Device & OS Knowledge:Solid understanding of device-level interfaces and protocols for both LTE and IoT ecosystems across various consumer operating systems.
  • Programming & Automation:Skilled in Python, C, Java, and Shell scripting for automation, diagnostics, and development tasks.
  • Network Performance Tuning: Knowledgeable in analyzing and configuring network parameters related to latency, RF conditions, and timing to ensure optimal performance.

Additional information

The compensation range for this position is: $147,000 - $180,000. This range reflects the low and high end of the range Skylo reasonably and generally expects to pay the hired candidate in this role.
