Spare Parts Manager

The Spare Parts Manager is a critical individual contributor role responsible for end-to-end
management of SMA's spare parts operations across North America. This role ensures optimal
inventory levels and product mix are maintained to support our field service teams, customer
repair needs, and long-term service reliability.
The Spare Parts Manager serves as the key interface between Service, Supply Chain,
Procurement, and Headquarters, driving alignment and execution on inventory planning, logistics
coordination, and supplier fulfillment. This role also manages consignment inventories, trunk stock
for Field Service Engineers (FSEs), and strategic stock locations across the U.S. and Canada.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Inventory Strategy & Planning
· Develop and maintain spare parts planning models to ensure the right mix and levels of
inventory are available to meet customer and service demands.
· Analyze usage patterns, failure rates, and lead times to optimize stocking strategies and
reduce service-related downtime.
· Coordinate safety stock levels, reorder points, and replenishment strategies based on
installed base and regional demand.
Consignment & Trunk Stock Management
· Oversee all consignment inventory locations and ensure contractual performance and stock
accuracy.
· Manage the deployment, tracking, and optimization of Field Service Engineer (FSE) trunk
stock across the region.
· Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to ensure stock visibility and accountability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Collaborate closely with Supply Chain and Procurement to ensure accurate forecasting,
supplier readiness, and delivery schedules.
· Act as the regional point of contact with SMA Headquarters to align on global spare parts
strategy, product lifecycle changes, and critical escalations.
Operational Execution
· Support field and depot repair operations by ensuring timely availability of high-priority and
long-lead-time components.
· Maintain spare parts master data accuracy, including part numbers, lead times, and
technical specifications.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
· Track and report on KPIs including fill rate, stockout rate, aging inventory, and service
impact due to parts availability.
· Identify slow-moving and obsolete inventory and recommend action plans to reduce carrying costs.
Additional Information:
- Compensation: $104,000 - $134,000 annually
