Job Application for Staff Platform Engineer at SmarterDx

Role

We are seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to architect, build, and operate a development platform that other teams will use to build products and services. The ideal candidate is a skilled programmer that knows how to build reusable and scalable system capabilities with Kuberntes and AWS.

This role is fully remote within the US.

Key responsibilities

Architect and drive out the design and capabilities of the SmarterDx development platform.
Build, deploy, maintain, and monitor common AWS infrastructure with Terraform.
Build capabilities using Kubernetes custom controllers in Go and deploy common libraries in Python and Typescript to utilize common data, observability, and monitoring systems.
Ensure the security of our clients’ data by building secure patterns into the fabric of the system in close collaboration with Security Engineering.
Support the SmarterDx platform in production, applying an SRE mindset and toolkit.
Research and advocate for improved techniques, processes, and designs within the team.

Your qualities

12-15+ years of development experience, with a focus on backend and cloud-based solutions.
4+ years of hands-on production work with cloud infrastructure, containers, monitoring, and alerting
3+ years in a security-conscious environment
Expertise with Terraform and Kubernetes
Experience with Go and Python, especially using Kubernetes APIs.
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-have qualifications

Experience with ETL/ELT processes and tools like AirFlow and dbt.
Experience with Snowflake or similar data warehouses.
Prior experience in the healthcare sector.

Compensation

$200K to $250K base salary + equity
