Job Summary:
The Drug Information Pharmacist at SmithRx plays a critical role in enhancing clinical quality and optimizing the cost-effectiveness of drug therapies for our clients and their members. This position requires a deep understanding of evidence-based practices and a strong analytical approach to managing drug utilization, ultimately leading to better health outcomes and reduced costs for plan sponsors.
In order to be eligible for this position applicants must be based in one of the following states: Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin.
What you will do:
- Drug Information & Clinical Strategy:
- Review new products and formulary strategies with a focus on clinical efficacy, financial impact, and market trends, while supporting P&T activities and evaluating utilization management edits to ensure the formulary is clinically sound and cost-effective
- Assists the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committee with: Drug class review write-ups, new to market product dossier creation, clinical criteria development
- Provide clinical content creation and management while maintaining and distributing clinical drug information, including product evaluations and formulary positioning recommendations
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Support various departments within the organization by serving as a clinical resource, ensuring accurate and evidence-based information is available for decision-making
- Support the weekly drug file maintenance process by addressing clinical questions and ensuring accurate drug information
- Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze claims data to identify trends, cost savings opportunities, and areas for improvement
- Communication:
- Communicate formulary changes and program updates to internal and external stakeholders
What you will bring to SmithRx:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical pharmacy setting or a PGY1 residency

- A focus on managed care preferred
- PharmD degree and active Pharmacist license in good standing required
- Experience working on or with a Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committee is required
- Experience assessing and critically appraising clinical trials, evaluating comparative effectiveness evidence
- Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) certification preferred
- Proficient in managed care and pharmacy benefit management practices, including utilization management and familiarity with First DataBank and/or Medispan drug language
- Excellent project management and communication skills, and the ability to thrive and collaborate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
