Solutions Engineer

Location: USA Remote

This is an Inside Solution Engineering role, with 90% of time office based or remote working in supporting the sales and channel activities and up to a maximum of 10% travel.

This role will have a focused effort around our cloud offerings, integration with portfolio, supporting evaluations, demos and virtual PoCs.  This will be classed as a technical specialist and full training will be provided.

This role is aligned to someone who is a self-starter, passionate about technology, enabling teams and connecting with people to help solve their requirements. The ideal candidate must have a strong interest in cyber security with persuasive communication and presentations skills. This is a perfect opportunity for an individual with hands-on skills in the subjects of or similar to networking, cloud, cyber security, with previous experience in roles similar to Pre-Sales, Support, Channel Enablement and Professional Services.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Proactive leadership of technical discovery conversations to qualify and validate the customer requirements and use cases to build out a bill of materials that meets the customer needs
  • Conduct technical sales presentations and product demonstrations across SonicWall portfolio to an audience typically between 1-50 persons, keeping partners and customers informed on our new solutions and industry trends
  • Talk to and demonstrate SonicWall unique value proposition
  • Lead remote partner product trials
  • Builds out and maintains personal lab for most common demo requests and personal development
  • Technical lead to support proof of concepts that are partner enabled
  • Participate in beta testing and feedback of product features and field readiness, working alongside the product management teams
  • Teaming with support where necessary to preserve relationships with partners and customers
  • Support key technical marketing initiatives, builds out collateral, presenting on internal or virtual events.
  • Develop expertise to a PoC level in at least 3 SonicWall product areas
  • Peer support for onboarding for new hires
  • Adheres to the company values, guidelines, and solution engineering regional reporting tasks

Characteristics of the Role:

  • Demonstrates a balance of business and technical acumen, proactively seeks to take a technical sales lead without instruction
  • Proven ability using formal best practice methods to present a convincing presentation, solution selling, demonstrate whiteboarding skills, objection handling and excellent time management
  • Receives little instruction on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments
  • Working in an effective way that maximizes the available time, optimize teaming discussions to deliver the required outcomes on time and to the required ask
  • Understands and works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
  • Work is reviewed upon completion and is consistent with departmental objectives
  • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise
  • May be accountable through team for delivery of tactical business targets

Desired Education and Experience:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1-3 years of related experience
  • CompTIA Network+ desired
  • CompTIA Security+ desired
  • Microsoft Azure or AWS Fundamentals desired
  • Retaining specialist knowledge across SonicWall products to the desired level
  • SNSA SonicWall Certified*Training will be provided.

 

Compensation varies based on location and work being performed. The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $80,000 to $100,000 USD which represents Total Target Compensation (Annual Base Salary + Target Sales Incentive).  The successful candidate’s actual pay will also be based on qualifications and experience, so the actual starting pay may be above or below this range.
