Santa Monica Studio is seeking a Senior UI Artist for the development of a new unannounced title!

In this role, you will collaborate with engineers, artists, and designers to develop and integrate 2D UI for our award-winning team. Your contribution will be pivotal in creating a beautiful, intuitive user experience. Ideal candidates will possess both creative and technical skills, demonstrate strong 2D illustration abilities, have experience in UI art, wireframing, graphic design, and game engine integration, and show a passion for quality UX. Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the artistic direction of the UI art style through concept exploration, creating 2D UI mockups based on existing wireframes or designs for game mechanics and features
  • Create 2D supporting graphics such as icons which communicate key information and help illustrate the game's interface
  • Support in the UX process by designing wireframes based on feature specifications from other departments like Combat and Game Design
  • Work independently to support and enhance the creative vision of the Game Director, Art Director, and UI/UX Lead, delivering clarity and visual quality within technological constraints
  • Advance the capabilities and efficiencies of UI design and implementation
  • Work with Production to set project level UI goals and schedule expectations
  • Collaborate and mentor individuals with less UI experience

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in User Interface artwork on at least 2 recent AAA titles
  • Strong 2D illustration and graphic design skills
  • Strong User Experience knowledge with wireframing experience
  • Professional experience with game engine integration
  • Available to work within Pacific Time core hours
  • High proficiency in Photoshop, Figma, and Adobe Illustrator or similar tools

Preferred Experience

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Expertise in 2D animation techniques
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Python and MEL Script
  • Node-based shader editor experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Maya, Slack
  • Familiarity with version control systems, specifically Perforce

$115,900 - $173,900 USD
